I was going to buy the 80 qt Cajun rocket pot

cajun rocket pot

How many LBS of crawfish can you boil at one time in an 80 qt pot?

also, does anyone have a recommendation on a single burner? preferably 70 or under

100 qt is a better sized pot. Holds a sack plus all the fixings...

Just went through all this myself.

Take a look at Bayou Classic on Amazon.

I am done with King Kooker/Metal Fusion.

A jet burner is better, IMO.

You need a jet, not a burner.

SAMS sells a double jet burner I've been very pleased with the last 3 years. It used to take my 100 qt. pot 45+ minutes to boil with my old burner. The dual jet burner gets it rolling in about 20 minutes.

The jet looks like this...

But I have this frame/stand...

The trick with all these burners is to find one with a decent regulator.

Most of the cheap ones (King Kooker) come with trash regulators.

Either my 80 is actually a 100... Of y'all are making too damned many fixins.

For God's sake, we got 40lbs of crawfish, a box of sausage, a sack of citrus, a sack of onions, a sack of potatoes, and garlic and mushrooms.

Something isn't adding up.

Does a jet burner make that much of a difference? I run a standard small burner but with a 20psi reg attached. Brings to a boil in a decent amount of time, returns to a boil pretty damned fast. Just leave the lid on the pot.

I'd think your...

Too test it, 100 qts. is 25 gallons, or 5 full buckets of water. If it's full after 4 buckets it's an 80 qt.

The Bayou Classic ones are good, for being inexpensive.
0-30 psi for $26.99.

Look for one that can adjust to at least 20PSI and follow the directions on how to turn it on.

The regulators have a lot of safety features that sometimes make them damn near unusable.

Then you're sacks are huge (TWSS)...

In general, 60qt holds a sack, no fixins. 80qt holds a sack + fixins. And my fixins include 6 onions, 6 garlic cloves, 6 large lemons, 6 corn cobs, 4 pints of shrooms, 5# of sausage and 5# of potatoes per sack.

Eta: There is a lot of debate...

My experience with 80's is that they work, but everything fills to the tip top of the basket and once it gets rolling you lose crawfish over the side only to be found when you dump the water.

The 100's have more than enough room with 2 or 3 inches of basket exposed above the water/seafood level so nothing is lost or wasted.

Something is up.

I'll have to check.

What gets me is we do 10lbs of potatoes and at least 20 corns.

ill pay the 220 for the 100 qt pot and spend about 50-70 on a good burner\regulator

I didn't want to go over $300.00
