Just read that JB Salter passed away last week. He was a legend around here and will not be forgotten.
Here is a memorial show that was aired for him last week.

I wish I could say that I have fished with him. That would have been one of the biggest highlights of my life. I know that's something you will never forget.

Knew the guy. Was a good friend of one of my uncles. One day in the Western Auto store, I was getting some tires. He was in, trying to sell one of his jigging poles. He was showing some guy how to flip with it. He asked me if I wanted to try. Sure, flip and done. Told me I must of bought one. Flat out told him I wouldn't own a POS pole. Which they were.

Oh, my uncle always told me JB could never find fish.

Even if the pole was a POS, I wouldn't have ruined his action with the other guy.

Ole jb used to try to peddle us his jigging pole while smoking a cig. I was amazed how long an ash he could maintain while talking.

Not cool man I don't know the guy but that's pretty disrespectful to say when someone makes a thread about someone who has passed away. Someone needs to call your mama.

Great memories of stopping by his store in Erwinville. Always willing to share his maps of fishing spots at Old River and talk with you. Still have my JB jigging pole and cricket hooks--moved on to other tackle and fishing places, but pulled in a lot of bream at OR and Crackerhead canals with it. Was a great guy. RIP.

For those on my arse, I knew the guy. He ate at my grandmaws house many a days. He grew up with my uncle and my mom. Hey, I am just telling it like it was. Yes, he could catch fish, but nothing way out there. Many of his spots, my uncle turn him on to them. And yes, I had fished with him in the bar pits along the river. And yes, I taught a old dog a new trick to catch Sacaliat by using spin casing gear. He also used to smoke Winstons.

Well, when your uncle dies you can come start a thread claiming how wonderful he was. However, to come in here and talk shite about JB in another person's tribute thread is poor form in my opinion.

I've seen Mr.JB come to the Pigeon landing with an ice chest full of fish with high-muddy water, only using jigs, when dudes with shiners would strike out. I saw it time and time again. I even joked with him that I was going to hide out in his boat one night. He laughed and said I was welcome to come with him anytime. Good Ol man.
