If my memory serves me, I believe last winter folks on this board predicted that if oil prices stayed "this low" ($40-$60) then Louisiana would see more duck leases on the market next season (2015-2016) and therefore lower lease prices. I presume that this would be from companies that could no longer afford costly T&E expense or employees getting laid off or cut back and dropping leases. Has anyone noticed that to be case yet? Seems just as expensive as always to me, but I don't follow it that closely.

Won't happen IMO.

Even if it does, it'll be a shitty lease that Joe Bob who got laid off can't afford anymore.

In theory, yes. But this would require more continuity of lowered oil prices (i.e. 10-15 years, IMO).

I thought it might with all the service companies having trouble, but I haven't seen it. We will probably be next summer before we see stablized oil prices again.

Dr.'s, Lawyers, Financial guru's still have $... I'm sure there may be a few leases that come available because an oil service company may give up one here or there, but I don't see it causing a price drop...

oil bust in 80s didn't lead to duck leases coming available....

3 and 30 of the 80s did...
