Yeah, the system runs better wet. So, run it wet. You want to wipe off all excess for storage of course, because it's a dirt magnet. But most military armories are fine with a light coat of CLP for storage and a heavy coat while firing.

It's not perfet, but it isn't bad either.

Idk if you're fricked, but you may be waiting another 6 months lol. my buddy had a rifle at a shop that flooded, and supposedly a rep from a few of the manufacturers is coming down to inspect the damage, but who knows if that is true or not.

Then my question would be, would I have to submit anything new, since this was before the law changed in June

Depends on if he actually turned in his FFL/SOT or if the can is ruined beyond repair. If he's just closed your form 4 will be approved if there were no errors and mailed to him. If he gave up his license he would have had to dispose the can either to himself or to another FFL/SOT. In which case you would have to fight him for it or wait 3 months for a form 3 to the new FFL/SOT then 6 months for another form 4.

I bet he's just closed and still has his license. I have a customer that has a gun in on transfer at a dealer who was flooded and not answering phone calls too. You can keep checking with the ATF to see if the Form 4 has been approved. When it is if he's still not responding you can take it up with the ATF or maybe the Sheriff.

Let me help you out before you waste a lot of CLP. There are only a few places in the entire BCG that need to be wet with CLP. Wet, in proper context, means a film of oil thick enough to leave fingerprints in when touched. The vast majority of the BCG parts only need a slight film of CLP, just enough for corrosion protection in storage. There are four "rails" on the bolt carrier (the only area on the BC that actually touches the receiver), the support ring on the bolt itself, the cam pin, and cam pin slot. Those are the only area that need a drop or two of oil. Everywhere else on the BCG, wipe some on with your finger or bore patch then wipe it off, the residue left behind is all those parts need. The whole "AR15's need to be run wet" thing comes from an improperly interpreted technical memo from early on in OEF/OIF.

appreciate it clames, will do.

More questions. I know yall aren't fans of muzzle breaks, but what do yall like if yall where to buy one? surefire and lantac seem to be popular, and I've also heard good things about the precision armament m4-72.

Also, looking at picking up the vltor a5 system, worth the 100 bucks? everybody seems to love the system, but thats just youtube.

Anyone want to go into their scope mounting technique?

I've seen a number of youtube vids. Wheeler Professional level system is nice, but I dont have a gun vise.

I have a 1pc Bobro QD mount and a 3-9x scope.

I have a set of small, mag base machinist levels that I use. You really need to have a way to secure the rifle and still allow enough room to make minute adjustments. First I level the rifle where the scope mounts and lock it down, then level the bases and then mount and lap in the rings (unless using particular Burris rings), then place the scope. Make adjustments, mark with a fine pencil when everything is lined up, then torque in sequence and to manufacturers specs with a in-lbs torque driver. Lot involved but I wont end up like the guy at the range last weekend with the CQB M1A, Nightforce glass, and shooting pie pan groups at 50 yds.

I went with a Faxon big gunner barrel for my sbr but its a 11.5". I havent shot it yet but it looks good. It is also a mid length gas system that is not the norm on a shorter barrel. No idea if there is much difference yet...but it does put the adjustable gas block is a easy to get to spot with my rail hand guard setup.
