My old man says the only way to rid yourself of the nut grass is to "move ur garden and leave it behind"
Any help is appreciated

Was afraid of that. Thought there might be a product safe for maters that would nuke it

what is this "nut" you speak of?
Posted on 5/13/15 at 6:18 pm to sonoma8
Roundup at about 4x the rec dose. Reg dose just burns it

I've read that image works

It is a nutsedge, so Certainty, Sedgehammer, Image, etc will kill it. Roundup will as well, and as mentioned, up the dosage. There is no known pre-emergent for it, but LSU AgCenter is having some positive results with FreeHand herbicide.

sedgehammer FTW.
it only kills nutsedge. whatever you do don't try to pull it, it will only sprout new plants from the "nut" thats deep in the ground. spray sedgehammer and wait.... takes about a week or so for the plant to die. wait for it to completely wilt and die, it will just go away. sometimes it takes a couple of apps, b/c you don't spray some that may just be coming up.
They sell it at PlantTec, its about $22 a pack that makes 1 gal and its good for only 24hrs. It will kill only nutsedge and won't harm your other plants

Nothing is labeled to kill nutsedge in a garden. Only turf and landscape beds. You can try to post direct it but I wouldn't spray anywhere near my vegetables.

OP, refer to my direct application method here if you want a way to apply nutsedge herbicide without hurting desirable plants:

I was talking about imazaquin. To my knowledge poast doesn't control nutsedge only grasses.

I just applied segehammer about 4 days ago. I got a shite ton around my new pond/garden area among other places. I haven't planted yet so I just am trying to spray and kill it all before putting plants. So far I think I see it yellowing. I would t spray anything superstrong like roundup 4c dose. Seems it would kill the plant but not have time to kill the sole root system. I'm no expert tho

SEdge hammer Says to not use around edible plants in veggie garden. I've already planted..... Any other options?

I'd go the Roundup route, then. Glyphosate is a contact herbicide that is absorbed through the foliage. It has no activity via soil/root uptake. It wll only kill what it is applied to.

^This glyphosate is the answer in your situation just spray with caution or wipe it on nutgrass
