Copperhead or not? He didn't take a picture of the head he was scared. The juvenile copperheads I have killed have had a different pattern and brighter yellow tip on the tail.

Looks like a copper. A young cotton mouth would be short and stubby, I would guess. . Either way, it was venomous.

Pretty sure it is a young cottonmouth. They usually have tails that are kind of yellowish like the one in the picture. And they usually aren't black until later in their lives.

Looks like a small Water Moccasin meaning it was a justified kill regardless of the rodent population in the area.

My first instinct is young cotton. Either way this is one I'm ok with killing, this coming from the guy who used to keep 6 snakes in his classroom.

looks more like a cotton. but, if you want to be certain, smell it. if it smells like shite, it's definitely a cotton.
