I already have big truck nuts so no need to encourage that purchase.

I have heard Nitto and Toyo are made by the same people. I put a ton of hwy miles on my truck but I need some more aggressive tread for hunting season. I have had both recommended by multiple people.

Any advice on which one to get?

toyo > Nitto

ETA: to be more clear, nitto's look better i.e. the ridge grappler, but from what i know, you seem to get way more life out of a toyo

I have 33" Nitto Trail Grapplers on my F150. Went with them because they were lighter than the Toyo's

Have 15k miles on them and still plenty of tread life left...things were beasts during hunting season

Sounds like you're going to need some LTBs

I am in the pipeline construction business and we run both mud tires on our trucks. Nittos probably get as good as or better than Toyos as far as tire life if you rotate about every 5K. I am actually running a set of Nitto MT's now and have about 40K on them with pretty decent tread remaining.

I've always found that nittos don't last and are too loud

I have the toyo open country AT Extremes (more aggressive than their normal AT's but not a true mud tire). They are wearing down evenly, they aren't that loud.

I've got over 5k on my Ridge grapples now. Still super quiet. They don't add to the road noise at all.

Have trail grapplers on my truck. Put them on around 91000 miles. Truck has 144000 now. Still some usable tread left.

They both do well. Both have good lug patterns. I don't think either one is superior to the other as far as off-roading is concerned. My decision would come down to which one is cheaper.

I had terra grapplers on my F150

They were an LT rated size (10 ply) and I got 75K out of them before I replaced them. Probably could have gotten a little more but didn't want to gamble.

Thanks. I went from Toyo MT to a Maxxis knockoff - I think the side lugs on the toyo etc. make a big difference, I could tell the first mud I got in with the Maxxis knockoff that they didn't pull nearly as good.

I have a friend that had 90,900 miles on a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers that still had tread left when he bought new ones.

Go with the Toyo Open Country R/T
More aggressive than the A/T but not as much as the M/T

Unless you are just into big names on tires. This tire is a great tire with better warranty
