Problems with them exiting.

I would use the 180gr ones becuase I don't think there would be a penetration issue with those, but I don't think my gun likes heavy bullets.

I have been shooting Core Lokts for years and they have always done well for me. The only other bullets that I use are the Federal Fusions. They will make a mess of a deers vitals. My 11 yr old son uses the Remington Managed Recoil Core Lokt in 270. He killed his second deer of the weekend with them this evening. It was an old doe at about 60 yes. She ran about 40 yds and was pouring blood.

I know it and he is on cloud 9.We went to a stand on the back of our place where my wife saw several deer earlier in the week. We got in about 330 and saw 9 before this old doe came in. He put it right where it was supposed to and she didn't go far. We are gonna have a sausage making day here shortly.

No deer -- but hogs, yes.

ETA: I'm also a Core-Loct hater. Never got good groups in my other .308's.

The 150 grain corelocs didnt group near as good as the 170 grains did out of my 30-30 or 7mag. I went back to powermax on seven mag, the 170 grains are awesome in the30-30. Once you find what your gun loves to shoot stay with those. Good luck

I'm not sure about the gamekings though. Lots of reports of jacket separation and bullets coming completely apart.

I might have to test run them on a doe to convince myself. Sonuvabitch they shoot good though. I could have easily clicked down and over and dropped one in that 1/2" dot.

I'd bet they will be fine.

My little man shot a doe y-day with a 6.8 spc and 115 gr TTSX. Complete pass through and insides were mush. This was at 62 yds.

If that little round can do that those 165s will be more than enough and I doubt they separate too much.

I did read a little on them. They were designed for faster speeds and longer shots. If the bullet doesn't have time to slow down they can separate.

So, take that as you may. Not sure the distances you will be shooting.

We have stands where you can see up to a mile if everything is cut. With that said, I don't trust myself past 200-250 out of a stand. I definitely don't need any specialty long range stuff. I'm mainly just happy to see the gun is capable of shooting. I was going to be depressed if the worst shooting tikka I ever shot was my own.

I'll probably still try something else. These will be test driven on a doe next weekend probably.

Went get a box of 150 gr Winchester deer season xp for my .30-06 a few weeks back. Never was sighted in with that scope, but once I got it dialed in they didn't group too bad. All I had was 50 yds to shoot with though.
