Looking at a new production Super Grade Model 70 but have read less than thrilling reviews of the accuracy of these rifles. Anyone own one and can speak on this subject?

Granted I haven't shot further than 50 yards, I went from trying to get it on paper with my new scope to 4 shots damn near covered up by a quarter in 10 shells. And I had a wobbly table and a grocery bag filled with diapers acting as a sand bag

I've got an extreme weather, my old man has a sporter, both .30-06. His shot great out of the box. I bought mine second hand and it took some head scratching to get it right. The fix was the recoil lug on mine was bottoming out in the bedding. So, I deepened the lug slot bedding a bit and it's now a shooter. Shot it a few weeks ago at 330yds and it's dead nuts on. Resting on my shooting bag across the hood of my truck. These are both FN made rifles of recent (2009)ish production.

The triggers are nice and crisp.

Any thoughts on a NIB one from the New Haven, CT factory? Were the guns from that factory considered better? Thanks to both of you for the feedback, you've put me at ease a bit.

I don't know much about them except what I've read on the net. I wouldn't worry about it until you find out it won't shoot. Is it the "classic"?
