I was selected for a rifle bull elk tag in unit 50 NM. I leave Friday morning. Has anyone else hunted the area? Any last minute details I may need to know?

Juanita, the lady at the nearest general store, has the best tamales and hookers for miles around.

Have never hunted there, or anywhere in NM for that matter, but do spend a lot of time not too far from unit 50. I would like to hunt there in the near future, keep this thread updated on how you do.

I googled unit 50 to see its location on a full map of NM and it looks like some pretty damn big bulls get killed in that area. Good luck.

So how does that work? You just go and hunt anywhere you want that's not private land in that zone? Going thru a guide service?

Pretty much. You order a map that includes public land, BLM, private etc... We also have a GPS with that information.

You can, but I want to do it on my own. I've found the area I want to hunt. I'm just going to park the truck and pack in.
