2nd - Mexican Gulf Fishing Company

All of their captains are badass. They have some SERIOUS boats. Nicest rigs you'll ever go out on.

Venice - Will Wall, Hunter Caballaro, Josh Howard, and Mike Ellis are some of your more reputable captains. Mike has a 33ft Freeman Cat that is the tits.
Grand Isle - For offshore you'd be better off going with someone out of Fourchon - get to the canyon quicker. Look up Ed Frekey, Chris Moran, or Lance Walker

Venice--Mexican Gulf

Fourchon-Ed Frekey--Tuna Time Charters tuna time

Both of these operations have been catching plenty of YF lately

Two of my good buds work with Ed--He runs a top notch trip, and is very responsible.

Go Long Charters-Capt. Gray Long
Josh Howard is good too

I've been out with Capt. Gray and caught some nice tuna.

BTW-Red Snapper does not open until June 1-so you will only be able to catch Mangrove Snapper if you go in May.

Also, when talking to Captains, ask them how recently and frequently they have run trips--Good Captains like Tuna Time and Mexican Gulf are always booked.

I heard that someone down in Venice just bought a 42' Freeman, and another person a new 39' SeaVee. Don't know when they'll be in the water down there though.

agree on the Freeman. puts the old glacier bay that he had before to shame.

I've never been on the boat with Capt. Wells and not caught fish. Had a friend go out with him on Monday. They slaughtered 'em.
