1. Does it matter where I go to get finger printed?
2. If I apply online, am I able to pay online as well?
3. What do I do with my fingerprint card?

TIA. Can't remember everything that we went over in class.

If you apply online, they are supposed to send you an email when your application is accepted. That email will have instructions how to pay online. Of course, I sent in my renewal application on line over two weeks ago, still have not heard a word.

Gotcha thanks man. Does it matter if I submit the app before or after I do fingerprints?

Yes.

I see you're in Mandeville, so you may not want to drive to BR to get printed at LSP HQ. But that's the best place -- period.

We're told that roughly 40% of the "ink & roll" prints get rejected by the FBI because they're illegible. If that happens, you'll get a letter telling you they couldn't use your prints -- and you'll have to get printed again.

If you go to LSP HQ and get printed on their digital scanner, your prints won't get rejected due to legibility issues - period.

And your prints will be transmitted electronically to the FBI -- i.e. you won't have to do anything with a fingerprint card.

So if I'm able to make it to LSP, I'd just bring in the paper application. Do my prints. Pay. And be done?

You could -- but it's far better (you'll get your permit a lot quicker) to submit your application online.

The online application doesn't require any notary services. Nor do you need to submit a photo -- they use your driver's license photo.

Go to this site LINK.

Then call the LSP Concealed Handgun Permit section (225-925-GUNS) if you need answers to any specific questions.

see my recent post here about my experience with my application process. It should answer your questions.

As others have said, do your app online then go in to LA State Police HQ to do fingerprints. Then you'll get the email with the link to pay online.

As my link above says I went from submitting app online to permit in hand in 9 days.

Thanks man! I just submitted my application online. Do I need to bring anything of importance with me when I go in to LSP?

Nope. Your ID and form of payment for fingerprints (you pay for the prints upon the service)

THIS^^^^

Do NOT (I repeat do NOT) submit your application via paper unless you want to wait an additional 4-6 months. This link shares my recent experiences. In addition, do NOT expect to be able to contact the LSP by phone or email. Do your research now, do your application entirely online, get your prints done electronically (at the LSP HQ in BR if possible) and be prepared to wait a month or so (maybe less if you're lucky).

State Police HQ if you don't want to wait 6 months.

What about renewals?

I've received the notification from the state, and planning to go to a renewal class this weekend.

They already have my fingerprints and photo from my original license. So it's a just matter of subtitling the application online, right?

Good questions, SOS. Mine was actually a renewal, as well. Do your online application then scan and submit to LSP your course certificate and driver's license. You're correct in that your fingerprints are on record so require no action from you. LSP will send you an email when they're ready for your payment (I used credit card). AfterI spending 4 mos waiting for them to review my mailed materials, I reached them by phone and asked them to change it and I resubmitted the materials online. Once they received all the digital applications, I had my renewal in approx a month.
