Me and my brother want to get one for the second split of duck season.

Which one should we go with and what is the main differences between them? I really do not know much about them at all and only became interested in splitting the cost of one because my brother has sold me on it..

HERO3 White Edition - $199
HERO3 Silver Edition - $299
HERO3 Black Edition - $399
LINK

Also, Does anyone know of any coupons or anything that could save me a few bucks? TIA

hero3+ has 4000k video capability. Don't really see the need for it.
And to be perfectly understood. The black 3+ is $400

the black 3 is $249

So which should I get just to use for a few duck hunts and maybe strap on the dog every now and then?

My buddy has the silver. He says he wishes he got the black but I really don't understand why. Here's a clip from one of his videos he took of me reeling a trout in on the Causeway.

This was a clip pulled from video with the included software.

Don't buy from GoPro's website. There's your coupon.

Pretty much everywhere has it well below MSRP.

and to be honest i still have my hero 1 & 2 and they work fantastic. if you're in the air between the 3 and 3+ just go with the 3, most people don't utilize these to their full capabilities anyway

just like people buying a $1000 rifle and putting a $100 scope on it, people will get the hero 3+ and use windows movie maker....

if you're looking for good video editing software grab a copy of movie studio platinum, it's unreal the shite i can do with it(keep in mind you need a computer that can handle it)

My brother has an alienware so I figure it can handle pretty good movie editing software

as far as the Silver Vs. Black, whats the main difference? That picture looks like pretty good quality. When we duck hunt we usually work ducks all the way in before we shoot so footage wouldn't be any further than 40 feet out or so

I'm thinking about getting one as well. For me, it seems like the 3+ Silver Edition would be sufficient, but I'm hoping someone with experience can offer advice because I'm clueless about them.

it depends on if you're just one of those guys that have to have the Costa Sunglasses and Yeti cooler or are you good with a 5 day Coleman and some Maui Jims

Im in the exact same boat as you. Im more willing to pay ~$299 for the Silver than the ~$399 for the Black. Im thinking the Silver would be sufficient but just wanted to make sure before I pull the trigger on a purchase.

bingo

let me put it this way too, once get your $400 H3+ Black edition and spend all that time editing your video in 1080p and upload it to youtube .... people are going to watch it in 720p or less

until everyone has lighting fast internet, like google fiber or something and can stream every video they watch at 1080p, gopro is getting to the point of diminishing returns with video quality... unless they are adding new features

What if I have Yetis but wear Maui Jim's?

I'm not really technologically savvy, so I feel like I wouldn't properly utilize the advanced features of the hero 3+ black. Judging from the post above, it seems the hero 3 or hero 3+ would be more than adequate.

This is all spot on.

Just realize that a video camera is basically like photography. Even the best photographers shoot lots of photos to get one keeper. So, when you're watching those cool gopro videos on youtube, realize you're watching the highlights. Most of your videos are going to be bobbing around, filled with glare from the sun, grainy from low light, or the subject will only be half in the frame.

And it does take a decent computer to run video editing software.
