Need help assembling a Spining Reel (pics included)

I found a cheap spining reel in a box that I forgot I had. So I bought a pole for it and plan on using it for white perch fishing. I took it apart and can not figure out exactly how it goes back together.
It is a South Bend APT-8PN 3.1:1
So I took it apart to the picture below.
Here are the parts I have to put it back together. *Please use the numbers if you have suggestions so I don't get confused.
This is how I put it back together:
I put number 1. and placed it in the hole. Then I put number 2. inside of the white plastic rim. It seats perfectly. I think this is correct.
Then I took number 5. and put it down gear first and twisted it. I then put number number 3. bracket around it and tighten down screws. *** I'm not sure if this is correct. The metal bracket seems to only hold down the white ring which is number 1.
I put number 4. gear on over the rod.
Next I put number six on. I tighten the nut and then I put in the small screw. There are two different screw openings. Not sure if it makes a difference while hole to use.
Then I put the spool on. I put on the metal washer gear first and then the red flat washer. I know this part is correct.
Last the drag knob. Now I'm done. The spining reel handle turns and it reels in very smooth. But....................this bottom part below is not secure. It pulls apart a couple of inches. I can not figure out how it stays secure and connects to the rest of the reel?????????
I can push it closed. See picture below. But it pulls up with little effort.
Any ideas?

I could not find a reel schematic online.

Look around on the floor for another part. Something has to go under #3 that will keep #2 and #5 from pulling through the hole in #3. All of the SB schematics I looked at that were similar to your reel show a thin U clip or C clip that pins that assembly in place. It seems like a missing part is the only logical explanation. I think if you remove the spool and pull on #5 you're going to see the problem.
I can't tell from your pic if there is a step in the bore of #1 or not. The only other thing I can think of is if part #1 has a step in the bore, turn it over so it traps part #2 which will in turn trap #5 and keep it from pulling through #3.

That's a spinning reel. A spincast has a closed face.

The rotator screws on to the shaft.

Kudos on the pics. I wish my offshore inspectors would do as good a job.
I have nothing else to add that has not already been posted.
Good luck.

You probably don't have to find an exact; I'm willing to bet South Bend assemblies all their spinning reels the same way.

I'm not sure about that. The spinning reels that I have and have pulled apart, the gear and washer go on, then the spool. The drag knob is typically in contact with the drag washers, not the gear and washer. look under the spool, you should see a spring or clicker that is in contact with that gear.
As for why the bail isn't seating, I would put #5 in first then 2 then 1. The bail attaches to #5, something has to hold #5 in. as for the nut and locking screw, the hole it goes in is the one that the flat side of the nut is on. this screw will prevent the nut from backing out.
hope this helps.
:edit: looking at the pics, i'm wondering if #2 is upside down. i think #2 holds #5 and #1 holds #2 then #3.
