My bow sights are set at 20-30-40-50-60

I hung a new bow set yesterday and the only place to hang it put me within 10 yards of a trail / slough crossing.

I intended on setting a 10 yard pin this morning but shooting my target at 10 yards with the 20 pin and I'm drilling it. Is this right? Can my 20 yard pin be on target 0-20 yards?

Yes. Your 20 yard pin should be good from 0-30 yards.

Sounds about right to me. I had a 30 yard pin set the other day but I dropped it down because it was distracting, and my 20 yard pin is still very close at 30. I'll never have a bow shot over 25 yards so I just don't need the extra pins.

I've been shooting it 20-25. Guess it makes sense that 0-30 there wouldn't be any drop. Past 2 deer and a pig I've shot I hit all them high trying to shoot 15 yards with a 20 pin but maybe it's just me.

That's string jump, aim low.

As a habit I consistently aim high for some reason. Usually center mass behind the shoulder. Guess it's a habit from shooting a rifle at 100 yards all these years. Realistically with a bow I need to be aiming just below center but when that adrenaline kicks in I try shooting center. With them jumping the string it has be spine-ing them or putting an arrow through the backstrap

I agree but you have to train yourself not to as the eye naturally wants to aim for the biggest chunk of deer, when as soon as that arrow flies the deer is gonna move down a couple inches at least.

You aren't the first and I've been just as guilty, see above, it's a hard habit to break when you're used to rifle hunting. The biggest thing is, don't go playing with your pins, it's maybe off by an inch at most. Focus on making yourself aim low.

That's what I've been doing this morning. 10 yard angle from 20' up is hard to do. Being on call for work means I couldn't be on the stand this morning so figured I'd practice for when I can be

Old school buckmasters vid that breaks it down to the basics.

Bow season doesn't open til the 15th in my area so I'm doing jack shite but shoot my bow over and over, watching vids like this, and seeing all you frickers kill deer.
