I will be ale to fish from about 10:00 to 3:00 tomorrow and need a place to go relatively close to Lafayette. I know the weather may have messed up the water, but what is our best bet. I was thinking Henderson so I can run my boat and adjust it, but if the water is bad I could pick up and run to big Alabama. Is this my best option? Thanks.

I'm thinking of going out to Henderson as well...
I don't know, but I believe they finished replacing the power poles that went down in the Texaco canal today...
probably go out in the afternoon...

I don't know how that corresponds to water in the trees. I am just getting back into fishing so I have forgotten all the levels for different areas. I can always try to hit points I guess.

ETA: my brother saw dirt on the islands yesterday while crossing on I-10.

I catch em best when the Pelba guage is around 12' and falling...right now the water is up in the flats and up in the woods...if you get through the woods close to where the water is moving up on the ground I can usually find em and catch em...
the normal "pool" stage is 9' I believe...that usually leaves a couple of feet in the flats...
with all the rain it will be muddy but there are plenty of places where you can find clear or mixing water...

I was thinking the stuff back off of pelba would be decent. Something like bay farine or the one east of it?

Just like farad said, I consider anything above 12' to be high. That's because the water in the flats is deep enough for them to roam around in there comfortably. And when it gets over 14'. they'll be able to go deep into the trees. The best luck I've had when the water was this high was by finding areas where I can actually navigate in the trees and try to find moving water or grass mats.

Navigate with a kayak or a bass boat?

Bass boat. There are some tight squeezes sometimes, but there are areas where trees are spaced far enough apart and you can "fish in the woods" so to speak.

Man it's all high. I pass over it everyday and keep an eye on it. Dirty water and very high. Look at Lacassine if you have a small boat or kayak.

I'm sure Big Alabama will be higher than usual. But it's a bayou. Unless it's overflowing, the fish won't be able to go too far.

So, run the boat in Henderson then load up and go to big Alabama?

How much running you need to do? Should be able to run it pretty good in Big Alabama.

You have plenty room to run in big Alabama. I wouldn't mess with Henderson right now with the water being up. I would run it in big Alabama then fish little Alabama if the water is looking bad in big Alabama.

I thought I was fishing little bama last year during all the flooding but it was big and the water was still decent. Much cleaner than anything else I have ever seen with heavy rains in south louisana

All hooked up and no place to go.

Seriously, you think it is safe to run in big Alabama?

With the water this high in Henderson, I'd rather run big Alabama. I know from experience how easy it is to get out of a boat lane and find a stump. It all looks open right now. Couple times I fished Alabama it's always been good.
