I have a pine slab that is 4" thick, I think 18" wide and 10+' long. Still a bit green, but it can be installed as is. I can resaw it if need be. Say $75.

No big deal. I'm just trying to help an OB member out. I saw really just for myself.

Hell, I been sitting on a bunch of different oak logs that if we get some cool weather, I will be sawing them up. I only need around 750BF of 4/4, but have an easy 5KBF.

I will try to get you a picture. It's at a bottom of a stack of slabs.

And yes, $75 is dirt cheap.

Seems like the piece you want is alway at the bottom of the stack.

yep, bought my mill to build a camp. It's a Woodland 126. Built a trailer for it and automated it.

I'll probably end up wrapping it, but if you've got a picture that would be nice. I'm gonna mock something up when I get to the house tonight and I'll let you know.

Another way to build what you are looking for would be to get some 4" molding and a couple 1x12's. You leave the backside open. You install a 2x4 to the wall and then just slip the mantel over the 2x4 and nail it in place. That is how I built the mantel in my house many years ago. It looks as one piece.

Picture of mantel.

Picture of slab.

4" thick, 18" wide and 124 1/2" long. One side is live edge.

I could build the mantel like the first one posted, but I would have to price what it would cost and would need to know what size you are looking for.

A mantle I made for someone. Nothing special, just showing what a live edge mantle looks like. They ended up painting the bricks white to make the mantle stand out.

A few pieces I've made for my house.

A side table with chirroco and ironwood

One slab that follows the whole X shape so the grain flows from the bottom to the top and back to the bottom. The base is as wide as the top, it's just an optical illusion.

My coffee table. One slab that has been mitered for a continuous grain look.

Inlay I did on a side table for my house. The wood isn't stained or finished in the pic, just raw wood.

A little table I made for my bathroom. These next two pics are the same table. It's like the rock tigers eye. When you walk around it, it changes colors.

Looking at it from one side.

And looking at it from the other side.

A console table I built for my tv. Again, one live edge slab where the grain flows over the entire piece.

And a piece I made to go behind my couch.

Planning on making my girl a toy box as well. Hopefully before she gets here in December.

That's awesome. She will love it and it will be something that can be passed on down to her kids, etc.

As for deer season, there will always be another.
