My boy got his first deer yesterday.

My ten year old killed his first deer yesterday evening. It was a 5 point and the first deer he has shot at. We really needed a another deer for meat but I decided to trust him with the shot. He did it! It took us a good while to find it. I sent him home and looked for another hour and almost stepped on him. One of the greatest moments I have ever had with my son.

Man, don't you know he's proud and excited.

He can't stop talking about it. When I yelled up to the house from the woods that I had found it the dude just freaked out with joy.

Congrats to you and your son. There's not a better feeling in the world than being with them when they get their first.

Congrats to him. My grandson (9) got his first a 6 pt. and second a doe on the same day this year. Got to video him doing the tracking. Savage Axis Youth model in 7mm-08.

That's awesome. Great job.
I spent the entire month of November with a 7 yr old girl in my lap trying to kill her first. She missed 2, and had another 4 or 5 times where it was either very late, deer not turned just perfect, or some other reason why she wouldn't pull the trigger. She got pretty upset after the last miss and hasn't wanted to go back. I need to tie one up and let her shoot it to get her confidence back.
Before y'all SJW "ethical" hunters get in here and tell me she's too young, can't make ethical shots, blah blah. She shoots the caps off coke bottles at 30 yds with a 22 and open sites. She shoots remarkably well. Better than most adult women, and 1/2 of adult men. She just gets remarkably shaken when she's about to pull the trigger.

Congrats!!!!! What an awesome feeling when they bag their first deer. Cherish the time with them in the stand with you. My son went on his own this year and miss that time dearly.

Give her time and don't stress, heck I still get jitters... Keep trying to get her into the woods. 7 is not too young, I've seen 6 year olds that got the job done consistently.

Congrats to you and your son! Can't wait for my daughter to get in the woods with me!
7 is definitely not too young! My 7 year old niece got her first weekend before last. BIL said he pointed it out and when she saw it, she said "I see it daddy!" Loud as shite
Doe took off and circled back around on her right side, dropped in her tracks with that .243 baw
