For my 10,000 th post I am starting a thread about my current trip. I have posted about it before but the time is here, just got through security at BTR (word of advice, don't bring a collapsed fishing pole in side of a piece of PVC pipe on your carry on) any way from here we fly to Atlanta then to Saint Paul and finally to anchorage. We sleep in anchorage tonight and our guide picks up first thing tomorrow, from there we drive to willow and 2 bush flights to the top of our river which is at the southern border of Denali wildlife refuge. Saturday we start hunting, I have tags for moose, brown bear, black bear , caribou and wolf as well as a fishing license. No way I will kill all that but I ain't going to go all the way up there and see something and only wish I had a tag for it.

Hope to share lots of pics and stories , and will be able to post a few pics today, but after tomorrow I will be off the grid for 10 days , this is my trip of a lifetime and have been actively planning for 2 years and dreaming about for 40.

TL, DNR...I am going to Alaska will post pics when I get back

This is what I did, but I put it in my checked bag.

The next trip, I just carried them in my hand and the flight attendant took care of them for me.

Good Luck! I've fished up there several times, but never gotten the opportunity to hunt.

Looks like the weather may be turning. Probably light rain for the next few days. Good luck, be safe.

You"re flying over southern TN right now. Just a bit longer to go.

475 kts at 29.5 climbing to 36k. You should be in StPaul by 315

There are. Last of the Salmon Runs are happening, Bears are fattening up for winter and eating everything they can find.

I am incredibly jealous. I love Alaska with a passion and if I had my choice, I would spend every summer there. It is a place that everyone should experience to see its true beauty.

I look forward to you updates and pics of your adventure there.

I am really working hard to convince my husband to go there on our next vacation.

Go salmon fishing if you want to fill your bear tags. 100% safe!
