... As usual Roger, I agree with you 100%.

I grew up in a pretty cool location, even though we were surrounded by cotton fields, there were some very cool things nearby. Even within walking distance.
Man there was this huge spring like a mile from my house in the woods, incredibly beautiful, and the best cold water. Could find arrowheads everywhere there.
Even to this day, none of my friends ever bothered to go there, and they still live in that neighborhood.
They always wanted to go to the Big River, because that's where everybody went.

I don't think I will have time to make it to WV.
Where to Stay in the Bryson area? What is it about 10 hours from Baton Rouge?

... and you can go up backside of Smokies on US64 and get a run down the Ocoee. Better rafting than anything in Arkansas this time of year. Scenic route, beats the truck dodging interstate trek up west side.

About 11 hours or so depending on which way you go. There are a few hotels in Cherokee and Bryson, but for the cost, you might as well rent a cabin. Most realtors in the area manage cabin rentals. I would drive up towards Chattanooga and then cut into NC through the Ocoee. Then go through the Nantahala Gorge to get to Bryson. It will add some time to your trip, but well worth it for the scenery. You could stop and do some fishing along the way if you want.

Truth be told, I have never purchased a fishing license and have never run across the green jeans. I wouldn't suggest that they're easily available at several locations. Easiest way would be to stop at the Walmart in Murphy, NC. Not sure about TN.

If you are more serious about fishing, go to Arky.

We booked it. We will be in Labor Day weekend. Where is a good spot to catch the game in Bryson? We are in walking distance of the city. Also, looking for a guide as well.

TigerOnTheMountain, can you give some suggestions on cabins for rent or realtors to contact for cabins in the Bryson area? Thanks

Can't go wrong with the Smokies - absolutely beautiful.
Petit Jean State park in Arkansas is really nice and totally drivable. Not sure about the fly fishing there
