Missing a cat? My Cooper's Hawks are back

They nest in a neigbor's tree but they eat and socialize in a tree in my yard. It adds a new level of picking up debris before mowing.

Yes, he's already started some rice.

Asians wouldn't leave that much meat on the bone

Is that a mole trap?
ETA: Never mind. Zoomed in and realized it's a collar.

Even I did not have to zoom in on it to know what it was.

Pretty clean cut for a hawk.
I was drinking a beer one evening and my 23 lb cat was sitting next to me.
A hawk came down and tried to lift my petite cat which did not happen.
My cat swatted the hawk and wrestled him down hitting him in the face with his petite rear paws.
Then my lab chased the hawk as the hawk was scrambling to get off my porch.
I think what saved my Cat was he is one big boy.

You might poison them. Wait until after the hawks are gone to shoot the cats.

cat
Maybe an great horned owl, or a very hungry red tailed hawk. A large cooper's hawk will struggle with a medium sized cottontail. A big female will weight less than 500 grams (about 1 lb) and probably more like 400 grams. And their toes are long and thin for catching birds. They just don't have the power for a cat, unless it was a helpless kitten.
Here's a video of a cooper's hawk I trained a couple of years ago. She's on the larger side for a cooper's hawk. LINK

This is what I was thinking, it would have to be almost a kitten for a Coopers Hawk to be able to lift it up.

Are the cooper's hawks still in your yard? Did they hatch any young ones?

Awesome thread. Seriously.
I love reading OB.

cat is too big for a Cooper's Hawk. Maybe a redtail, but Cooper's biggest item of prey might be a squirrel, and that is a stretch.

Animal Planet needs to give that narrator his own show, that was great.
