I'm posting here bc most of you guys are do-it-yourselfers.....anyway have any of you taken apart the door to your microwave to replace the door handle? You need to remove the inner frame (kinda clips in place and yes it could break when you pry it out) and then maybe the inner door panel (which is where the door handle screws into). Kenmore model 40185059210 FYI.

The job "looks" simple enough but I've read where you need a tech to do some sort of microwave testing afterwards......yeah I know they're probably trying to drum up more biz.

TIA

I get your point BUT in the last month and a half I've replaced the dishwasher (Bosch), washer & dryer (both Speed Queen)....kinda tired of replacing shite but anyway I get your point and they're not that expensive except that it's vented & above the stove model.

Probably some lawyer BS to check radiation levels coming from the microwave after the door has been disassembled.

After you fix it just let your wife keep an eye on the food in the microwave so you don't get cancer

I'll tell her to remind me BEFORE she uses it so I can step outside

My thoughts too plus they can drum up more biz if they scare you with "special" tests.

I mean if you look it up it does look pretty simple and it's not like there's some "special" protective cover you're removing.

That's an expensive door handle. The cheapest I found it with a quick google search was around $25 Parts #: DE94-02375A.

At that price I'd just buy a whole new microwave.

Nice detective work; same p/n I found

Replacing the microwave, with installation, is in the neighborhood of $500 (1100 watt cooking power and vented above the stove) so $25 and an hour or less of my labor my just be the ticket.

Didn't realize it was a vented microwave. $25 does seem more reasonable now.

I actually saw it for $20 but it may get more expense if the panel that I need to pry off breaks; prying plastic is a 50/50 deal.
