Assuming I can find one, which one should I get? Leaning towards marlin because I don't want to load magazines, easier to just load a tube.

10/22 has more aftermarket parts and can be a bit of a project if you want.

I have a marlin 795 which is the magazine fed version of the 60. I love it, the main reasons I went for the marlin were:

1. cheaper
2. the action holds itself open after you fire the last round so you know it's empty. this may not seem like a big deal but dryfiring a rim fire is a very bad thing and this helps prevent that.

10/22. I own two. They're nail drivers.

1+
Sloopy, I'll admit that I'm biased to the 10/22 (including my Charger, I've bought 4 of them) and I do NOT have a Marlin, but I'd go for the 10/22. Loading the rotary mags isn't that big of a problem. When hunting, I keep 2 or 3 extra (fully loaded) mags in my pocket so I can change out to a loaded mag very quickly. Most guns nowadays have pretty crappy factory triggers. W/ the 10/22, it's pretty inexpensive and easy to take care of this yourself.

Marlin is better right out the box. Ruger you can customize a lot.

Marlin. Tube magazine ftw.

10/22 is better as a project gun.

One other difference is that the Marlin holds 14 in the tube, while the Ruger holds 10 in the mag.

Pre-craze, Ruger had 25 round mags that were pretty easy to find.

I will add that I think the marlin is a little pickier on the ammo you feed it. Never had a problem with CCI minimag or winchester superx, but any hyper-velocity rounds or crappy ammo may stovepipe

I have an older marlin 60 from when they still held 18 in the tube. But honestly, unless there's 18 squirrels in one tree, then there's no need. I don't miss.
