I recently purchased 2 Lews Tournament Pro G Speed Spool reels and they are probably the smoothest reels I have ever used. I've fished Chronarchs and Curados for the last 10 years or so and the last series of Curados pretty much burned me on Shimano. For anybody looking for a new baitcaster, I would highly recommend this particular model from Lews. I can't speak much for longevity but initially they have exceeded my expectations.

In my experience longevity has been the issue with Lews stuff, but if you like the way they throw that's all that matters.

The Lew's BB1 is probably the best all around reel I own. I've only had it for a couple years, so the longevity is still to be determined. No problems yet.

I have owned Revo's and Curados. Can't say anything bad about them. I own more Lew's than anything right now. You get good bang for your buck.

ETA: I'm liking their rods too. Got my BB1 on a 7'3" H/Fast TP1. Good for chunking frogs.

Can't go wrong either way - Lews or Revo's

Own both and love both of them, also have a pair of Smokes and love them as well.

What did you not like about the Curado as compared to past models? and what model curado specifically are you talking about that burned you?

I started off with the Bantam Curado which have legend status now. And then the E series which I think is probably the best. And now I have 2 of the 200 I models and on both reels the brake adjustment will come loose inside the reel after a few hundred casts. It will start to piss you off after awhile.

I'd go with lews exclusively, but I don't want to change my name

Or Pflueger, or Pro Qualifier, or Johnny Morris, or any other of the Doyo reels. The carbonlite's are Dawon, but they share many interchangeable parts with the Doyo's.

Besides the gear ratios, handles, spools, and minor changes in the braking system, we're all throwing the same shite in the $150-$250 range. Except for Quantum and Shimano.

This is not to say all these reels are bad. Doyo (and Dawon) make quality shite.

Hell, if you save up enough money, you can go rummaging through Doyo's parts bin and start OGhunter777's reel company.

He must be talking about the G series Curados, as they were kinda cheaply made. I don't know anyone who liked them. The new ones are jam up, though. I have two of them and one of the new Citicas and I love them.

I got a Lew's Speed Spool SS1S on a 7 ft St Croix a couple years ago; first baitcaster. After some birdnesting and frustration I put it down a while and picked it ip again this spring.

I have it casting well now with a gold spoon and it has become my main rod for reds this summer.

Nothing to compare it to, but I like the Lew's reel.

Yeah it mostly depends on what I need the reel to do. Hell, one of my best reels is a damn old Silver Max. That sucker just won't die.
