Madison Co. Rut

Anyone hunt around Madison Co. (Canton/Thomastown) MS know how the deer activity has been? Going tomorrow morning for the first time in two weeks, spent a week in AR hunting. I think the rut generally starts in late Dec around Christmas. Anyone have any updates?

i hunt in Jasper Co and as of mid week we are showing little signs of pre-rut with a couple of new scrapes.

I'm from Carthage...haven't hunted the area in years, however. My guess would be that middle of the month will be prime. Always were some big deer around Thomastown.

There are big deer in Madison Co for sure. For some reason where I'm at the deer are very unhealthy. A lot of culls and very small racks. Only our 2nd year in this location so we are trying to feed them better in the offseason.

I hunt just outside Canton off of 43. I hunted all last week and did not see any chasing or scrapes but the bachelor groups have broken up. All the bucks seen live and on camera were rolling solo.
Hoping to see a little more activity when I'm back next week.

We hunt off Red Dog road outside of Thomastown. Bucks started scraping about two weeks. Saw a buck chasing a doe last weekend but doe was having no part of that. We are definitely in the pre rut.

Yep. Right off of 43. Hoping the rut will kick in soon. I drive from Flowood 45 miles from my house. About to get my 4 hr. nap in so I can get after it tomorrow.
