I'd like to have some extra secure/waterproof storage in my truck but don't want to spend a grand on a folding bed cover.

Anyone have a low profile tool box they would recommend?

This would be for shotguns/shells/tow straps/tools and other crap I don't want under my seats etc so it would need to be lockable and boltable to the truck

I've heard similar comments which is why I'm reluctant to order anything without some suggestions

I had a UWS chest style, that never gave me any reason to dislike it. I had it 4 or 5 years in 2 different trucks with no issues.

The shotgun shells will still rust in the toolbox. It's not air tight.

I'd honestly probably rather save up for a bakflip bed cover and tailgate gasket. Having full use of the bed when you need it is nice.

I always wanted a tool box, but then I started looking at tonneau rolling covers. I will probably get one for my next truck.

I have had a Delta Low Profile on my truck since 2006. No complaints.

Believe it or not TSC is a pretty good good box, but if you want the best get weather gard or highway products

I've got a chest type one that was in my old Tundra that I think I'm going to get rid of. Won't fit in my new Tundra. Think it was UWS, if not same style. Fine to leave your shells in there for a day or two, not long term. I leave mine in a shell box.

Cam Locker is the best toolbox on the market.

I had an H&H in my old dodge. It wasn't low profile but they had those as well. I bought the one that went almost to the floor of the bed so I'd have more storage. It was a standard cab 1500 so I didn't have a backseat so it was like a trunk.

I just bought a Kobalt low profile box from Lowes. So far, I love it. It's about half the price of a UWS, and the metal is a little thinner but still great quality for the $$.

Not sure where you live, but I only use RKI and only go to Truck and Transportation for them. The one on my truck is from '97.

Look at Rawson Koenig (RKI). The best tool box I ever had. Was durable and watertight. Ive had a UWS and Weather Guard and the Rawson blew them out of the water.

I have a UWS. I don't really know what the criteria for judging toolboxes is but I like it. I put outdoor carpet and some dividers on the bottom to keep my stuff from sliding around. It's done everything I needed it to, and I definitely wouldn't spend more money to buy another brand.

I put a Tractor Supply low profile on my old dodge in 06. Wrecked the dodge and gave the toolbox to my paw paw for his truck. He has had it on 2 trucks and uses the shite out of it. All of the latches and seals are still working like when I got it. Surprised the shite out of me since I think I only paid $250 for it.

I have one on my truck that is about 2 years old. Its a huge POS and has been for a while now. I'm trying to decide whether to get a other brand or go ahead and get a bed cover now because the TS toolbox has to go.

A few problems with my UWS that I'm about to hopefully send back for a new one.

Entire top lid shows dents/etc
UWS logo is crooked
Part of the latch mechanism is crooked and can't be fixed because it's welded on. I've tried adjusting to no avail. Only one side of it shuts and I have to put a lot of pressure on it in order to do so. Pretty shite quality from a company who prides itself on being american made blah blah. Another good buddy also had a problem with his closing all the way, but they sent him a new one without exchange of the old one, so that's legit.

Eta: I won't buy another one
