I'm leaning towards the Vortex strikefire II, but was wondering if there were any other moderatly priced options out there I should take a look at.

Saw this PA optic yesterday. Haven't seen any reviews on it yet, but the older models got pretty good reviews.

100yds tops probably. No real need to shoot any further and no place to sight it in. I like the red dot scopes and the reflex sights with magnifiers over a dedicated telescopic scope.

sweet whats your budget?

i've always been partial to Aimpoint, but you shouldn't have any issues with the Vortex Strikefire like you mentioned, or Primary Arms micro red dots as well

You may as well just use good iron sights for that close. 5.56/.223 doesn't even settle out of precession until 150 yards or so.

It's more than your budget, but I love my Aimpoint PRO. That's my recommendation

I have the Eotech L3 512 holographic site with HALO reticle on all three of my AR's... On two of them I have added the Eotech 4X Magnifiers on roll out mounts. Have no issue with grouping 200 yd shots all day long. very accurate. I have stretched it to 300yd. but lose accuracy to about a 12" square

If you zero at 50 yards, it'll be within about 2.5" at 200.

+1 for Aimpoint PRO. Spend a bit more money and buy once, cry once.

Id suggest you get with a couple of people and try out what they have.

Ive switched from Eotech to Aimpoint to Magnified Optic back to aimpoint and now finally a 1-4x bushnell scope.

The 1-4x scope is the shite, Ill get a better one now that I know I like it, but it beats everything for general shooting purposes. Currently using a Bushnell AR223 or whatever, it was $200 from PSA with the mount. Ill probably upgrade to a vortex razor when my toy fund recovers.

Nothing to do with zero, the fact is 100 yards is practically point-blank for an AR (any rifle for that matter). I can put 50%+ into a 3" orange dot at 100 yards with my GSR and its pretty good iron sights. If your intent is 100 yards tops you are better off getting proficient with irons, you learn to be a better shooter and you'll achieve tighter groups than you would with an unpowered dot sight.

i think you and i have the same optics. I like the price and it seems pretty solid. looks good too. now if i could only remember to turn the damn thing off when i'm done shooting, i've replaced the battery in it more times than i can count. i started carrying extra.

Thanks for the insight, I want an optic. Low powered, red dot or reticle, will have BUIS also, love shooting irons but it's harder to see in lower light conditions. I'd shoot further if I had the space, I'm just being realistic.

Does the front sight post get in the way with the Bushnell scope, or are you using higher rings to mount it?

I dont use a front site. I lost my tactical about 5 years ago.

Even then you wont see it, may see a little bit on 1x but not enough to mess with your shooting. On 4x you wont see it at all.
