A few weeks ago my world was flipped upside down when my dog unexpectedly passed away. I had Shelby for 10 years and she was truly a part of our family. She was the best dog and the definition of man's best friend. She was healthy, active, and always taking care of my family and me. An undiagnosed benign tumor ruptured during the night. We rushed her to the vet immediately but she passed as the vet tried to stop the bleeding. My wife, daughter, and I are still struggling to accept it but we are glad she didn’t suffer.
As much as my heart still hurts, I can't fathom being without another dog. I have a second child coming in March and want to have a trained pup by then. I know finding the right puppy takes a long time so I figured I need to start. It has been a while since I have looked for another dog and I am a little overwhelmed.
I know I want an English yellow Labrador female but don’t know where to start looking. I do hunt and would prefer one with a retrieving background. Does anyone have any references or dealing with any l breeders in the New Orleans area? I don’t mind traveling to get the right dog and price really isn’t an issue. Anyone with any leads or information of a litter ready for around December would be greatly appreciated.
Do me a favor and love on your dogs as much as you can. It truly is an injustice they are here for such a short time. Thanks again and God Bless.

Man, reading this makes me want a beagle dog again that much more. I just don't have the time to take care of a puppy with work right now.

That's tough man. Dogs are a lot of work but are such good companions. My little girl is about to be 2 and since she was born that dog was her best friend. It's true though, they take a lot of time and work. It is pretty awesome when you have a good dog.

I am planning to breed my male and female this month.

Puppies around January if you want to wait. They are good dogs.

Yellow lab and black lab. No clue what color puppies will throw.

Sorry for your loss. Getting a pup is one of the best things ive done.

Not exactly what you're looking for, but my pup should be coming into heat within the next month, I have a sire lined up. They are both English fox red pups, but there could be yellow in the litter.

Sire belongs to Otis2 and his dog, Rye, has a HRCH title.

Damn Dude, that sucks. I'm glad Shelby didn't have to suffer.

Try Jennifer at Y-Farms Kennels in Zachary, just north of Baton Rouge. (225) 445-5012. You will probably have to leave a message (or a text) as she is always working with dogs.

They board dog and train dogs (mainly labs) and often have a litter for sale. If she doesn't have what you are looking for, she can most likely point you in the right direction.

Best of luck to you. I'm sitting here at my desk with my girl, Jackie, lying right next to me. I don't know what I would do without her at this point in my life.

There was someone here a week or so ago that was getting rid of one. Evidently he didn't realize that puppys need attention, exercise and food/water.

If you can travel, Duck Hill Kennels in Somerville, TN.

Robert Millner owns the kennel. He was the man that brought the 1st English labs to the US and started breeding them separate from American labs.

How much could I expect it to run me if I want a black American lab from one of those farms. Is 1000-1500 reasonable or am I way off

I’ve got a red fox lab male I need to get rid of. Three years old, house trained , obedient trained. Loves kids, retrieves all day long. I’ve got two other labs, and this one doesn’t get along with my other male. Wifey said got to go. Beautiful dog. Email me at hood1957@yahoo. If interested.

Try Prairie Plains kennels. Personally know these people and will vouch for them. You won't be disappointed.

My English lab (yellow/fox red) is going to be birthing puppies any day now. She was bred with my friend's black English lab. Both AKC registered. My bitch is from Huntfield kennels and the dad is from Duckhill kennels. Have family lineage of both parents. I will have the pups AKC registered as well. We are expecting 6 or 7 pups. The first 2 or 3 are already spoken for. Not sure what color they will be yet though. Feel free to call me if you are interested. Butch (225)715-0813
