Yeah Mike R. (may he RIP) had posted a video when he was hunting some lionfish. Looked like a blast.
Hard to believe it's been 3 years already.

Delicious, seriously. As a nuisance, I'm not sure why nobody eats them.
They do in Florida. At Grills in Port Canaveral.
Look at the menu:

Should be all over the place. Got talked into sashimi on the boat, about as good as anything I've ever tried. Really blown away by the clean tasty filet, hopefully it will catch on. Ceviche is great too, haven't tried cooked.

I'm not sure why nobody eats them.

I saw something where one of the chefs from GW Fins hunts them himself then fries the fish whole.

Just curious, never done this before but say myhat's video on it last year...
What is the purpose of it? Don't think you can eat them because their toxic? Do they run off other species or something?

Holy crap. The are an invasive species that is destroying native species at an alarming rate. And they are delicious.

They will eat anything that fits in their mouth. Each female will produce thousands of eggs and will reproduce every 4 days. They have no natural predators in our area/caribbean. They reach sexual maturity in about a year and have a wide tolerance for depth/temperature/etc.
