Lifeline safety system

I mentioned it in another thread but decided to start one dedicated to it.
1. Who has used the lifeline when hunting?
2. Are they mobile or do you have to leave it connected to that one stand.
I have a good safety harness but its only as good as when im settled in. Not for climbing up and down. So if i have 6 stands do i have to buy 6 lifelines? Or do these connect t the bottom of the tree and go up as you do? Im totally dumb on the lifeline and never saw how one workes. But i have heard of 2 deaths today, and one other that is on life support today from fallin from a stand and want to take every safety precaution.
