doing some pond fishing back home in Texas over the next week or so, and decided to grab a couple Z-Man chatterbaits
I got one in white w/ silver and another in black w/ blue to cover basic combos of water clarity and cloud coverage until i figure these things out

How do y'all like to fish these?

What color combos, trailers, etc do y'all use?

I sorta cast em out in the water and reel em back in. Hopefully a fish bites it and it gets stuck in his mouth.

I fish them on top where they make a bunch of vibrations. Get more impulse strikes

I pretty much throw white spinner baits and chartreuse crankbaits so I throw a white chatterbait and sometimes a white and chartreuse. I have a black and blue but hardly throw it and probably haven't caught on it.

I'm a pretty terrible bass fisherman FWIW.

I throw two colors. Chartreuse/White and Black/Blue (dirtier/muddy water). My favorite time to fish them is prespawn around shallow pad stems. I don't catch as many fish on them as I do on a Spinnerbait, but I catch a lot better quality.

Do yall usually throw it with the trailer that it comes with? Steady reel like spinnerbait, hop, slow?

My FIL has a hard on for them, but catches fish every time we go to Caddo.

He had a pretty decent female on black/blue yesterday.

Also caught a fricking beast slab with white/chartreuse

I noticed that Strike King has come out with a clone

I usually use a different trailer than what they come with something like a berkley pit chunk or other small creature bait the one really good fish I caught on it I threw it up against a cypress tree and it hit it on the fall. I'm sure it would have bit whatever that day.

I usually use a Lake Fork magic shad or boot tail swim bait.

I like Z Man the best, but I get the upgraded version with a better hook and a bait keeper. You'll fight your trailer all day with the original chatterbait unless you superglue the trailer on.

If you buy a knockoff, make sure the blade doesn't connect to the head with a split ring. These just don't have the action of the ones where the blade connects directly to the head.

I use zoom mini swimming flukes as trailers.

I actually prefer a chatter bait over spinnerbait in the spring.

Two weeks ago when I was at Toledo Bend seems like everyone I talked and fished near was slinging a chatterbait

Ive never had luck on the dark colored ones. I usually throw white, white/chart, white/gold

If I can ever put the senko down I might throw a RI Little Dipper swimbait on mine and sling it a few times.

I hate that I didnt use it at Toledo last week, even though i had heard good reports with it.

I've only thrown the white 1/2oz and I have only caught 2 fish on it. One was 4.15lbs. The other was over 3lbs.

I like that bait. Just want more quantity.

I like chatterbaits because they're so versatile. You can fish them like a jig, spinnerbait, or crank bait. Try a few different techniques.

Don't fish them for bass, but are deadly sometimes fishing for reds. Chartreuse is my go to

I bought a couple to try for reds. About the 3rd or 4th cast after I tied it on, I had a backlash (was using braid) that stuck mid cast that broke my leader and sent that thing about a quarter mile onto the bank...
