LED strip lights for bass boat deck and compartments

Looking to add LED strip lights for lighting up the deck and tackle compartments when I'm night fishing.
I've ran across LED light kits for $50 and seen some LED light strips you can get on Amazone for $22.
Anyone had any experience with either of these and installing it yourself?
A little research reveals there are two main types of LEDS...3528 and 5050, the later being brighter but draws a little more juice from the battery.
Also which color light would be best? White, blue or green? I figure white would draw a lot more bugs than blue or green.
TIA!

The ones inside the top cap look cool, but they'll blind the hell out you when running or fishing.

+ me on a bass boat = lost or damaged remote control

I'll just use the deck lights when tying on a new lure or landing a fish.

I've heard that blue can be harsh to look at for longer amounts of time, but if you're just flipping open then closing hatches then it won't matter. Same for the bugs, won't matter if they're not on all night. It's really what you think looks coolest. Surprised red hasn't been mentioned on a bass boat.

I use the amazon 5050's for a couple of my reptile enclosures. They're simple to use and work fine for me. I don't know about color, but make sure you get the waterproof version with the rubber coating. Depending on how you plan to mount them, you may have to do some cutting and solder on jumper wires at corners and stuff to get them to lay flat. The strips are only flexible in two directions - think steel banding.

Get the IP68 5050 led strips.
They should make a strip that's blue/white or green/white. Whatever you prefer. I laid some in our nautic star to light the deck up. Wired to ACC switch with a toggle switch to change between blue and white. Blue is perfect for running because it's not really blinding or anything. I added some more to the front after this pic was taken, but it should give you an idea.

Academy has them by the Kayak accessories. I was going to order a spool of 15ft online, but wanted to put them in for that weekend so I just bought locally. Academy sells 2 strip packs of different lengths. They have a red/green strip, a blue/white strip and a green/white strip if I remember right. 3 wires - color 1 (+), color 2 (+) and a ground.
Here's the 12" ones, but I think i got 24".

Ok, so I just did this to my Ranger last weekend. I bought two 16 foot strips with red leds. I bought the cheap ones off amazon THESE . DO NOT BUY THE CHEAP ONES
After a couple hours of installation, I fired em up. Blew a fuse, started isolating stuff and one of the sets had a short in it, frick. disconnected that one and went fishing Saturday morning with one set working, until about 30 seconds from the landing and the other set blew a fuse.
I ended up ordering THIS and it came in yesterday. Quality out of the box is much better. I will try to get back to the camp this weekend and install them and will report back.

Agreed. I had a cheap controller for undercabinet lights at my old apartment. It burned my Apt down. Not even joking.
There is no need for a controller unless you want to change RGB colors and fade. Just wire direct to 12V.

I bought mine from Bluewater LED a few years ago. I have blue on the deck and white in the compartments. The are holding up well and no problems. I put red on the deck and white in the compartments in my Dad's boat. Their warranty is also great. I did find the deck lights were a little bright when driving so I put mine a dimmer. Works well.

Blue water LEDs red to not interfere with night vision and attract less bugs. It's been two years now and I haven't had one issue not even a flicker

don't have any myself yet but I've been told that it's worth the extra $$ to go ahead and get the Rigid.

All led strips are the same. I can almost promise you that. The only time you need to worry about quality is if you're using a controller.

Hook your strips up directly to the battery. I bet it will solve your problem.
You have a link to the strip you have?
