leasing school board property
Posted by riverparish on 11/13/15 at 1:44 pm00
just wondering if anyone does or has leased school board property in mississippi. i see alot is leased and everyone once in awhile some comes up. how does it work? is it a one year or multi year lease? after leasing it, do you get first right of refusal when your lease is up or does it go back to public bid? any information would be appreciated.

You typically lease it for 5 years. After that, it goes to public notice. You submit a sealed bid along with anyone else that might want to bid on the property. If you are not the highest bidder, you are given the opportunity to match the highest bid being that you are the current lease holder. You pay the taxes and the lease yearly for 5 more years and the process starts over.
