This is my FIL's Sako. I'm pretty sure my wife is trying to buy it for me for Christmas. I believe he bought it new in the late 80s but don't know much about it. It's immaculate and has probably had less than a box shot through it. It's a 7mm rem mag with an old Leopold Scope. I'd this a pretty good rifle? [/img] [/img]

Seriously though, any Sako is fantastic. You will be very happy with it.

Sakos are great rifles.... if my ol lady got that for me I'd watch a season of dancing with the stars if I had too.

That being said... I'd put a worthy piece of glass on top that bad boy. Something in the 30mm tube category, preferably Swarovski or Schmidt and bender.

I agree Sako makes a great rifle and it deserves a quality piece of glass like a swaro but feel a Schmidt and bender is a little over kill I'm not putting a Schmidt and bender on anything less than a custom rifle. Swaro in the $1000 to $1600 range would be perfect for it.

I recently got a Tikka with a Meopro on it. I'm so impressed that I will probably get the Meostar R2. I know all Sakos are good guns but wasn't sure if this was a cheaper model or what. Feels and looks like a high end gun though.

Meostar is a great scope. I chose that over a Z3 for my Sako A7.

I don't know the value of the rifle, but if it's in good condition you can't miss.

Pretty gun

Did Sako make the A7 in the late 80s? I thought the A7 didn't come about until the late 90s. I could be mistaken.

I thought it was an A7 at first but I think it says AV. May be a Finnbear or Finn bear Deluxe but not sure. I was hoping one of the resident Sako experts could help me out.

Sako A7 is less than 10 years old probably around 07 or 08. Tikka T3 has been around longer.

It's a Sako "A" series action from 1980 .

V (Latin for 5) signifies the magnum or long actions . The cross bolt on the stock confirms it's a magnum cartridge

Looks like a Deluxe model ,Very nice , high quality rifle

Appears to be wearing a Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10x50 , fine duplex reticle

I you don't want that Leupold - I'll take it off your hands.

That is a super nice rifle and no reason whatsoever to change that scope.

I'll probably keep it. Even if I change it out, I have some guns with lesser glass on them that I can change out.
