Some of the proposed changes include: ·

Change in deer seasons in Deer Areas 4 and 10, eliminating bucks-only days, and changing the entire season to either-sex harvest. Also changing season limits in these areas from a limit of six (not to exceed three antlered or four antlerless), to a limit of three (not to exceed two antlered or two antlerless). ·

Change in deer seasons for Deer Area 7, eliminating bucks-only days, and changing the entire season to either-sex harvest while still maintaining the six deer season limit.

Change in reporting time period for the validation of deer and turkey tags from seven days to 72 hours following harvest of deer or turkey

Removal of restrictions on weapons that can be carried by deer hunters during primitive seasons on private lands.

MS did this, and I just don't understand why there's even a primitive season anymore. Archery I get, but when everyone is using 45-70s and 35 whelens, and private land is weapon of choice, why not just call it gun season?

The buck only/doe only days dont make any sense to me when they have limits anyway.

Because they don't wanna lose the revenue they get from selling primitive license

I know a lot of people that would shoot their limit in does every year but when there are specific days they don't have as many days to accomplish that so they may only get one or two.

Ah, MS lumps primitive and archery together, and most everyone just buys a "sportsman" license that has everything except wma permit.

This refer to carrying a pistol during archery season, or being able to hunt with a bolt action rifle during "primitive weapon" season on private land?

That's how Miss has it listed. You can hunt with a 270 bolt action during "muzzleloader" if you want as long as it's on private land and have written permission from the land owner

Oh ok. I don't own a "muzzle loader" or Anything and always end up barrowing for that 1 week every year, and have no need in buying one. This would be nice to just hunt with my tikka.

I would love the 3 deer limit in area 4. It would help our area in St Helena. That's actually the same rules we have on our club. I feel like some people near St Francisville might have problems with it though.

I don't think you even need written permission like you do for hog hunting and such. Could be wrong but I've never read it that way.

I'm exicted about that part of it the most. Although everyone I know in this area that kills more than 3 deer a year hunt the other zone across 61

I don't either since when they used to have it I'd shoot a doe regardless.

Why doesn't the entire state go 4 deer limit (2 antlered & 2 antlerless or 2 antlerless, 1 antlered, & 1 either-sex) Also they should put a 3 pt on one side restriction on NWR's and WMA's on bucks. At least that's my opinion.

And how will they police the Area 4 limit? Will you be required to input the area instead of the parish on the tag validation? People will be doing whatever they can to skirt around that. Sad but true

Is like to see it like miss has it

With the amount of hunters in this state compared to the land, I was hoping that read 3 deer statewide. We shold go back to what muzzle loader season used to be and get rid of all of these 45-70s and 35 Whelen rifles. I'll probably get flamed, but I think that would help reduce hunting pressure and bring deer herd and quality on par with surrounding states.

Our deer population ain't hurting. Better than ever Very very low percentage of people kill 6 deer a year or 5 or even 4
