Can bass boats launch into Martin? I may have 3 hours or so Friday afternoon and need a place to go.

I was told that at the end of the ramp they put a bunch of big rocks to prevent trailer tires from going off the end. I cannot confirm this.
I'll say this. I'm looking forward to taking the kayak out there and mopping up like I did during the drawdown in Henderson last year.

My uncle said if you have a 4wd you should be fine, or if you have someone goosing your motor as you pull it up.
I'm thinking about chancing it this weekend. I don't have a 4wd but my boat and trailer are extremely light, so I may not have any problems.
ETA: I'm heading to the Pool in Lacassine Saturday morning for one last search for the hamma. I'll let yall know how we do.

In lake martin? When is the drawdown? I went a couple weeks back for the first time and got skunked. It was pretty though, i'd like to go again.

It supposedly started the Tuesday after Labor Day.

And it's supposed to last until the end of January.

Man, my boat plus my gear weighs all of 500lbs. If I can get it close enough to hook, I can ratchet that bitch onto the trailer. I think I needa go see whats up. There are bass to be had there.

Go check it out and report back. When are you going?
Posted on 9/21/17 at 5:37 pm to Janky

If you go in the morning can you post conditions ASAP. If I can launch I may run out there after lunch. Thanks

Just remembered you cant fish in the mornings during hunting season in lake martin.
Posted on 9/21/17 at 6:06 pm to Homey the Clown
Hunting season is open?
Posted on 9/21/17 at 6:55 pm to Janky
Teal. They usually have a sign at the boat launch. During any waterfowl season the lake is closed to fishing until noon.

There aren't any damn teal in that place.
One of my clients who I didn't even know really fished told me to go to Oakridge. He said that was his favorite place when the river was around 5 and falling. It is just above 4 and falling now.

I don't trust trying to get back there when the river is that low.

I asked about that and he said I shouldn't have a problem. Last time I went it was around 7 and I found some areas with little water (2-3 ft.) Once in oakridge the cypress trees only had 3-5 feet on them. At 4.12 I can't imagine they have much water at all on them.

Once it gets below 6 I don't push it. Maybe at five and a half. But definitely not lower. Unless I had a flat bottom boat with a gator tail.
Even at 6 feet I kick up mud in some spots.
