Well, after 5 weeks of my boat being at the Prop Shop here in Lafayette, I'm going pick it up.

Is it fixed yall ask? No. No, its not fixed .

I called em yesterday, they told me he was going run it this morning. Well of course, he did not. That's probably the fifth or sixth time they told me they were going to do such and such at this time, then we would have an update, and they don't get to whatever they were going to do. I'm so sick of their shite, I'm going pick it up this afternoon. I'm about as close to having steam coming out of my ears as I get.

How fricking hard is it to work on a 15hp fricking motor?!?

Probably looking at a $500 bill and its probably running exactly as it was when I brought it in. So basically, they dicked me around for 5 weeks, didn't figure out the problem, and I get to pay $500 for a service that was not provided.

Wish they woulda lubed me up before fricking me...

So now that I got that out of my system, do yall have any recommendations on where to bring my motor to actually be worked on and fixed? Am I just fricked and it will take every boat mechanic that long to fix it? I'd probably not be as frustrated as I am had they actually fixed it after 5 weeks. Is that asking too much from them?

Guidry's Marine

Jeff is a good guy. Up front and reasonably priced. I'm actually bringing my boat to him this afternoon.

Sorry to hear about your experience with the prop shop. That's not the first bad experience I've heard about from them.

Jeff has a big test tank in the shop. So he doesn't have to bring the boat out to run it. Not unless he needs to, at least. Usually the only reason you would have to wait a while is if he's waiting on parts. He told me the water pump I need would take 2 days to come in cause he doesn't keep every single kind in stock.

Last time I brought my boat to him I had it back 3 days later. That was for the same thing. Water pump and lower unit oil change. I'm getting an annual service this time around. We'll see how fast I get it back this time.

Good to know.

His reviews are all 5 stars on FB. The prop shop doesnt have a rating section on their page. Big surprise there.

There is a guy by my house that does it as a second job. He always has a boat underneath that he is working on.

Well wouldnt ya know, all it took was me telling them that im taking my boat to another mechanic when i get off work for them to finally get off their arse and work on my motor. 5hrs later its fixed, running like a top. But still, frick the prop shop. 5 weeks to figure out my carborator was fricked up and to fix it.

Ahh the life of a boat owner

But hey, i got my boat back!!!!!!

Awesome! Glad it's running good.

Next time though, bring it to Jeff. I brought my boat this afternoon and he told me he already went and got my water pump. So he'll work on it tomorrow. Yesterday he said it would take 2 days to get it in. But he called another shop that had one and went pick it up today. Before I even brought the boat to him.

Ole boy sounds awesome. My brother's friend took his boat to a guy and he he put the steering back on backwards. The first time he noticed it was backing off in the Indian mounds launch. Can you imagine running Toledo with your shite backwards? That is the story as I was told.

ETA: the list of services performed on my motor:

de-carboned the engine
drained fuel tank
carb job (broke down, cleaned, and reinstalled corroborator)
River test motor

expenses included a carb repair kit for 62.80

total bill: 477.92

Finally got around to sorting through the GoPro footage from Sunday. Pulled out all of the clips to edit. It's late, so I'll try to finish editing and upload it tomorrow afternoon. A lot of dinks flying in the boat.

I could bleep out all of the curse words, but that is a lot of editing work.

It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have an obsolete computer.
