Leaving from Alexandria, would like to go down to Cameron. Any tips? I've only been once and we caught em off some little dock in a canal along a road. Is this what you are supposed to do?

Is this a good time of year? All the rain a problem? Odds of catching?

Just have string, bait and dip net.

Joseph's Harbor Rockefeller Reserve. You wont know if the crabs are running unless you go but the tide changes are the best times to crab.

LINK

The odds are 50/50 lol You will catch some but you might not catch 12 dozen XL in 2 hours unless they running.

Good luck. I been wanting to go with the kids.

Couple hours before and after tides are good but I've never really based a crab trip on them. Rockefeller is a great choice but the weather looks iffy

Yeah, I am a little scared the weather will keep us in Alexandria.

If the mornings looked better I may get em out of bed around 4 and head down, but it looks like the afternoon would be best and that is also the time the weather should be popping up.

I'm gonna get rigged up tomorrow anyway. The only time I went there was an old lady that showed up with a bucket and all her shite pre rigged....with strings wrapped around stakes and chicken quarters ready to go.

She had em out in no time and was pulling in 3 crabs to our one on our meatless turkey necks.

Not sure what website you are looking at, but it appears to be clearing up Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.

The road heading to Rutherford beach is one of my go to's. Last time I went we caught about 6 dozen. We've had the best luck right before day break and about an hour or 2 after sunrise.

Hog Island Gully is a decent spot as well, but can be busy.

Try and get some beef melt at once of the random convenience stores that sells bait on the way out.

Turkey necks work awesome and the crabs can't pull them off like they do chicken necks
