I know boat threads are a dime a dozen these days, here is mine.

My family grew up hunting only. Dad never fished, so I never really did either. I fished with friends and other family members, but never had a boat that I could use myself. That is about to change.

I want something to fish the rivers around here, Amite, Belle, Pearl, etc. I will also fish Big Lake and possible Lake P on very calm days. Basically, something to get on the water and having a good time between hunting seasons.

I originally wanted an Xpress boat. I still do, but found a few Makos in my price range. I just found a 19' Kenner with a 115 Suzuki for very cheap. Outside of the boats that I mentioned, what do yall recommend? What are yall's opinion on an old Kenner? I know that if I go Xpress, I want the hyperlift hull, not the HD one. Any further help would be appreciated.

Bob Kenner is a fine boat maker. Definitely a quality boat for a smaller cc bay boat.

Have heard good things about Kenner boats, well kept. Not sure what old means but well kept is the most important thing.
Are they wood free in the one you're looking at?

Guess saying it was on older Kenner was misleading, it's only 10 yo.

Suzuki's are well thought of in our area, of course most are 4 strokes.

I had a 07 Kenner 1800 Vision. Bought it new. You know me. You know the waters I've fished in that boat. Was the driest riding 18' boat I've ever been in. Everyone who ever fished with me said the same. Crossed lake Pontchartrain one day during a tournament in 20mph winds from the south. Lacombe to Seabrook. Swells were over 8' and my son won the kids division that day. I'll get another one some day. Loved that damn boat.

My dad has a 97 21 Kenner with yammy 150 and it has been a fantastic boat. No issues once so ever and still looks new being he takes care of it.

If I'm not mistaken the 06 models are made by bass pro or mako. Kenner sold the name in 04 to them. Should be same design just don't know about quality.

A buddy of mine has an old 23 Kenner and it's still in great shape. With that being said I'd buy it anyday over an Xpress. I had an Xpress and they are great boats but the ride and room in a fiberglass boat is better.

I currently own a frontier meridian 2104 with 200 sho. It is made by Bill Kenner who also makes blackjack. The quality is still amazing and I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

Any pics of said Kenner?

Thanks for the advice / opinion. That's pretty much what I've heard from everyone. Just wanted confirmation. However, I have no clue who you are.

I just emailed the guy too, supposed to be sold tomorrow. I think I'll keep an eye out for another Kenner though.

I did find a 22' Prolite with a 150 Honda for only 15k. I really liked the 20', but think 22 is more than I want for my first.

Thanks for all that. On phone so short reply. Will look into other brands by Bill too. Will post pics in a bit, but looks like it's sold.

If you're looking for a great deal on a used boat, you'd better give up your day job until you have it. You've got 10 million people out there doing the same thing every morning. I did it, decided to buy new after missing out on a few good boats/deals. JMO
Good luck.

Might should have started this process around late September. Baws are looking hard at this time of year.
Good luck man.

I meant to get started 3 months ago, but bought guns instead. Finally got a few built the way I want and am back looking now. If I am anything, I am bad with timing.

Ask Gary Zeringue. I was following the Sea Pickle across the lake that day. Dumas was out there with us as well. And what do you mean "even for you"?
