I am looking for ideas of a Kayak Rack. As of right now, I don't have any railings on top of my truck. I have googled for a few ideas, but wanted to see if anyone has a better idea. Thanks.

Any particular reason you can't strap it in the back?

Why do you want to put it on top?

Put it in the back with a bed extender.

Well, I have two. The bed isn't very long. My Kayaks are tandem sit on tops. I was nervous about them hanging out the back too far.

Like salmon said, get a bed extender. Much easier than strapping them to the roof.

I bought a BajaRack, but there are competitors as well (a seller on tacomaworld makes a neat one). You have factory roof holes, under the black strips, backed with welded on nuts that are used to attach the factory rack. BajaRack just screws right into them, you just put some sealant on it to prevent leaks. The pads on mine are for my paddleboard.

A bed extender only helps so much. If the bed is 60" long and I have a 10' boat, seems like there would be a problem.

I have a Tacoma with a 60" bed and a 12' kayak and it rides fine with my bed extender

it is going to stick out some...

I don't see the issue. The entire kayak doesn't have to be resting on something. It can be hanging out the back a bit. Just strap it down.

yeah...I would hate having my kayak on top of my Tacoma. That would be a huge hassle.

I've carried 3 kayaks in the back of my Tacoma with my bed extender. No problems whatsoever.

They make bed spanners , I don't know the name, that attach on your gear rails and seem like a good solution. Keeps your bed empty for the rest of your gear, and you don't have to lift the beast on top your rig.

Google "bed extender kayak". You'll see some pictures with short bed trucks.

Just get the bed extender if you're really worried about it. I've carried 2 14' and 1 12' long kayak in the bed of my ranger before with no problem. Ratchet straps are cheap and easy to use.

ETA: I did this WITHOUT a bed extender. Just strapped them in no problem whatsoever.

I don't know if this helps but I have the frontier with the short bed. Yes, it's much easier to throw the yak in the bed but I hate it sticking out that much. I also like to have the bed for the rest of my rods and tackle.

Factory frontier roof rack.

I could see that in your parts. Down here it's a different story.
