For those of you that are interested, the registration deadline is September 16th. The race will be held October 7-9. Bayou Teche runs from Port Barre, LA to Morgan City, LA. In addition to the 135 mile race, there are 5 additional races that are shorter. You can do 25, 27,34,48 or a 60 mile race.

I think we should have a TD Outdoor board sub-race.

They update the race real-time on the web site so those of you that have an interest, but may be stuck at work can follow along.

Tour du Teche

Post any questions here and several of us that did the race last year can provide insight.

You think they're going to open up a 5 mile division? I'd die trying to paddle my stand-up 25 miles.

come on Gaston.... I've seen stories of a guy doing the entire MS river, and another guy doing a 300 miles paddle on his SUP!

Your going to give all "stand-ups" a bad name!

I don't have a displacement hull, mine's just a giant-arse surfboard. It doesn't want to go straight for schitt. I'll get better though.

I planned on paddling across the bay last weekend but something came up. I need to sack up and just see how it feels.

I am trying to talk myself into doing the whole race but I may just do the 60 mile leg from St. Martinville to Franklin. I have a cheap sit inside and it doesn't track very well. I may try to borrow a faster touring kayak for the race.

Also, does anyone have a link to the results from last year? I could not find it on the website and was curious as to what a good/bad time would be for the race.

Recreational paddlers finished around the 45-55 hour mark. There were several of us TD poster that finished at the 50-51 hour mark. It wasn't until we posted after the race that we made that connection. Chicken should give us all TIger dropping hats or something.

The web site use to have a list of all of last years checkpoint and finish times. I'll try to find it when I get to a computer and link it.

Anyone know of a place to rent a faster touring kayak besides Pack and Paddle?

Moniel1-

Did you decide on the race yet? Did you find a touring kayak to rent? There is a new kayak/canoe rental place about to open on bayou teche. I will try to get their number if your are still looking to rent a boat.

Beans-

Are you guys doing a tandem or two separate kayaks? How much practicing/ training have you been doing ?

This year should be fun with cooler weather and being able to hit the parties on Friday, sat night and then the finish line party on Sunday.

Reminder to everyone that this is the last week to sign up. The dead line is Friday the 16th. I just rented the Tracer 165 from P&P and I am going to do the 60 mile leg on Saturday.

we were going to do the tandem but decided against it because he has a tri the weekend before and i have a race the weekend before and after and it would have just been too much. i'm pretty bummed about not going, it looks like it's going to be a blast

I am. I'm hoping to knock about 10 hours off of last years time. I want to break the 40 hour mark.

I am only doing the Saturday 60 mile leg. What do you think a respectable time would be?

That is very dependent on what you paddle. I saw that you rented a 16 foot boat so that helps, but it's hard to guess not knowing if your trying to win or just in it for the adventure.

You will have a 150-200 yard portage around the keystone dan so make sure you don't weigh yourself down with too much crap because no one can help you move the boat at any time.

Be sure to check out the Facebook page and the pro boards message board on the teche website for more info.
