Anybody use kanan lures? They look good but pretty expensive. Here's my favorite looking ones.
The last one looks like it would be awesome on specks.

Never used them, but they do look good!

Looks interesting - My question would be, where are you going to throw it?
With the hooks on the bottom and no lip the hooks will latch onto anything it comes in contact with. So the main drawback is that you will be limited to open water.
For me there are very few situations where I am fishing barren waters.
One of the advantages of the classic rubber swim baits is that they typically have a single hook on the top - which allows the bait to hit the bottom or brush along structure liberally.
Nice looking lures but I question the functionality of it.

Just like a mirrorlure which perform amazingly.

Another cool thing about 2 models is they have open mouths and slits where the gills are to let water pass through. Makes a sound and vibration that fish can detect. You can see the open mouth in the second picture. They're like $15 a piece though. Kind of wondering if it's worth the price for a single bait.

This is true. But if you think about it, it's the same concept with duck hunting. Wouldn't you want the most realistic duck decoys while trying to attract ducks? You wouldn't want old school decoys like your grandpa used when you can have decoys that look way more realistic even though your grandpa killed plenty ducks with his old school beat up ones. At least that's how I feel. Your statement is true for pretty much everything outdoors related now. But the detail and color in these lures is awesome.

Depending on weight I can't see these running very deep. Def a clear water lure and limited opportunity down here in our muddy water. Reservoirs would be a better option.

For freshwater I really only see it working in ponds. But for saltwater I feel like you could tear the specks up throwing it in a school.

They do make crank baits and soft plastics. And a crank bait with a LED in it.
