I have the cw380 and its a great little gun. Almoat to the 300 round break in and no problems. I had a bodyguard and sold it. Tried a pocket gun again with the cw380 and very pleased. I carry pretty regularly but since I got the cw380 it goes everywhere with me. Glad I bought it.

Have you experienced any FTF issues with the CW380? If so, how often, and does it seem to be related to a certain type of ammo?

I have. Flat nose ammo gives it problems. No problems with round nose or hollow points.

I don't know about that for pocket carry, Carson. Carrying it at condition 1 either in a pocket or pocket holster? I've just never been a fan.
I'm not a fan of any .380 --> There's a very small difference in physical size, but there's a huge gap between terminal ballistics of a .380 and a 9mm.

Anybody should be able to accommodate a small 9mm. (Doesn't mean they'll shoot a small gun well, but anybody should be able to carry one).

BUT irrespective of which gun someone chooses, if it's gonna be carried -- it needs to be in a holster. Period. (This is especially true for pocket carry.)

Dawg, I'm with you on this point (as you know) and the balance of your post. But it is clear from the thread that the OP is a sophisticated gun owner and is aware of his options. If he could make a 9mm work for the application, he would.

Anytime I carry any of my 1911's it's always condition 1 with a good holster.
I carry them a lot.

In a pocket or a pocket holster (in a pocket)? Which was my point.

Not carrying a M1911, Condition 1 in a IWB or OWB holster. I'm all for that (if M1911 style is your thing.)

Only with WWB because of the flat nose I think.

Of the 3 guns you mentioned, I'd go w/ Kahr every time. I've got a Kahr CW45. I like it and cc it a lot.

On the side topic of the Sig 238, although I like the 1911 (I frequently carry a Commander IWB) for IWB or OWB, I'm not a fan of it for pocket carry. I think the 1911 should be carried in condition 1 (cocked and locked w/ one in the chamber). W/ a 1911 sitting in your pocket in a pocket holster, it seems like there's an high risk of lint and such getting into the gun from the cocked hammer. Also, I like my pocket carry guns smooth and w/o things that might snag on a draw from the pocket. The 1911 has a lot of things that might snag. Last, I'm uneasy w/ a light trigger pull (most 1911's will have a trigger pull of 4# or so) being held back only by a external safety lever; I worry about the safety being disengaged as the gun/holster moves around in the pocket. Just seems like an unnecessary risk to me. For other folks who don't have these concerns, that's fine. Just something to consider for those thinking of pocket carrying a 1911.

And by all means, ALWAYS use a quality holster when using pocket carry, whatever gun it is.

This is the most important thing.

I recommend the Desantis Nemesis if you're going to carry in a pocket.

Since we're talking about small pistols and the knowledgeable pistol folks are paying attention, does anyone have any experience with the Kahr PM9? Small enough to pocket carry?

The Kahr CM9 is dimensionally identical and I own one. Excellent little gun - probably the smallest reliable 9mm out there. The only other smaller 9mm out there is the Diamondback DB9, and it sucks because Diamondback.

Here's my update video on the Kahr:

I have the Kahr CM9 and love it. It's about as small as I would like to go in a carry gun though. If my clothes or outfit require me to carry a smaller gun or a .380 I would buy different clothes or change my outfit.

Have the Bodyguard, trigger is turrible.

Heard good things about the Bersa Thunder, but no experience with them.

Definitely. If I were buying a pocket pistol tomorrow, it would be a CM9 or PM9, budget permitting. The MK9 is the same pistol, dimensionally, but is metal frame (if that matters to you.) The polymer (CM9 & PM9), base models come in at about 14 ounces empty, and the MK9 weighs in at a hefty 22 ounces.

If I were going to shoot it a lot, I would probably go with the MK9 - it is more expensive and will certainly last a lot longer. But, how much are you going to shoot a pocket pistol? The only .380 I ever owned was a PPK and it was about the same weight as the MK9, so it would be an easier adjustment for me. I've also shed all the polymer pistols in my inventory.

Kahr does "that kind of gun" better than anyone, currently, IMHO. As I'm Team Sig, I'm open to the P320, but I don't think it can compete with the CM9/PM9 on overall performance in this category.

Bodyguard fits in a pocket. If that is the criteria then it's the right tool.
