..and i think it's probably ruined me for any other type of hunting. Was in the Entre Rios province, on the Parana river. Shot dove and perdiz over five days. Not quite the volume of birds as Cordoba, but plenty enough birds for me, and I really like the area as it is more diverse in terms of things to hunt this time of year. I only hunted dove and perdiz but another group staying at the same place hunted dove, perdiz, duck, pigeon, and parakeets, limiting out on everything. They also fished dorado in the Parana one day. All in all, really enjoyable experience that I will likely repeat again in the near future.

It's not a matter of 'if' for me...just 'when'. How depressing would it be for someone in their 20's to go hunt Argentina. It'd be hard to replicate in the States.

It's like losing your virginity to Pamela Anderson in her prime and then knowing you'd be banging OT 4's the rest of your life.

Not so much

ETA didn't mean to thread hijack... To the OP that sounds like a blast. A group of my friends has talked about going for a while. Seems like a pretty expensive trip but would be well worth if once we all got on our feet. Post pics if you got em

A buddy in town hunts Cordoba pretty much every year. Loves it.

I went with Trek Safaris and stayed at Estancia Cortaderas. I wasn't interested in shooting 5,000 times a day, just wanted to have a good all around experience, which this was. The lodge was first rate, the food was fantastic, and the pace was leisurely, which was appropriate for my group. Up in the morning for perdiz, a nice leisurely walk with a pointer, limit out on eight birds per hunter, back to the lodge, smoke a cigar, have a beer, eat lunch, take a nap, then out to the roost for a dove hunt in the evening. 750-1000 shots later, back to the lodge for drinks, dinner, etc. Repeat. Transfers, etc were flawless and the whole experience was fantastic. They offer hunts all over South America and Argentina, in addition to hunting/fishing in other parts of the world and I highly recommend them.

Not to get too far into your business, but is it safe to say you spent about one US dollar per round?

If you're talking strictly ammo costs, no, it wasn't that expensive. The only drawback to going down there is that ammo is expensive and you can't bring your own. Shells were $14 a box. It's safe to say that's where they make their money.
