Definitely has it's scenic moments. Toured the Rainforest Trail up your island last September. Refreshing. Caught an 85lb halibut out the north pass, ate fabulous king crab, and fresh prawns we pulled up earlier in the day. Visited St Therese shrine - great spot.
The natural beauty of Alaska is breathtaking indeed. And Southeast Alaska is the best. Maritime weather there is pretty manageable. It's not Fairbanks.

You ever see any fish wheel traps on the rivers there?
I watched a show about them. Good way to stock up on a winters worth of fish.
Yeah, if you have subsistence rights you can use them on certain rivers. Not around here though

It's awesome. Everyone should do it, if you ski. Here is a local film and it's badass

You ever been in the ice caves beneath the glacier?
Yes. In fact, a friend got married there a few months ago. I plan a trip in May with my GoPro.

That sounds awesome.

Winters are too warm for my taste. We get equal parts rain and snow in winter, and I prefer the snow. \
Outside of that, Southeast Alaska is the best part of the state IMO. Souteast

Eaglecrest? Of course, there was no snow when I was there in September.

Yeah, We live about a mile from the turnoff. There is about 130" of snow there now. They are having a "winter fireworks spectacular" later tonight.

I'd imagine Alaska is a pretty awesome p,ace to grow up. You're little ones are pretty lucky!

Damn, that was the whole face of the glacier.
You never get tired of that stuff. We go down to Tracy Arm occasionally, you can do a day trip from Juneau. It's part of the Stikine Icefield.
Lady got nailed by a chunk of ice and broke her femur a couple years ago.

Yeah, My two daughters grew up here fishing, flying, boating. They loved it. One of the best memories of my life was a three day boat trip with my youngest daughter around Admiralty Island.

I did the Tracy Arm tour on my trip in 2007. I caught it on one of those rare not a cloud in the sky days and it was amazing. Sadly, I didn't have HD video capability on that trip.

One of my favorite places in the world when the weather is nice. Couple years ago we camped on the little island separating N. and S. Sawyer Glaciers and used a zodiac to play around. We saw a bear swimming among the bergy bits, and he hauled out on one. First time I had ever seen anything like that.
I want to go to Fords Terror/Endicott Arm this year, which is adjacent to Tracy Arm. Just gets fewer visitors.
