Anyone have any experience with the Frontier Tillage equipment? We are looking for a smaller disk to run behind our John Deere 5100E.

I sell JD/Frontier. I've never used it personally, but I've sold several of the Frontier Tillage Implements and haven't had any complaints so far.

How large of a disk/Do all can you pull behind a 100 hp tractor? 12 ft?

Frontier is Deere branded equipment from other suppliers. Of course you pay a higher price for the green paint.

Check out Land Pride. They build quality equipment.

Depends on the weight of the disk, depth you are disking, and soil types (heavier clay will pull more).

When looking at HP requirements, you don't want to be at the bare minimum- you want to be in the middle or upper range. Each tool should list HP requirements.

Monroe Tufline out of Columbus, Ms is the supplier for John Deere frontier discs. They have been in business for 80 years or more. Most dealerships already know that and can buy Tufline direct and save you some $ and get the same thing. There isn't a better disc for the money on the market than a Tufline.

This...

Also, most disc get torn up due to operator error (like hard turns with the disc in the ground).

Id buy something from somewhere else. I bought a MX6 bush hog from john deere that had the output shaft shear off due to john deere sourcing cheap metal. This was a known issue with this bush hog as many people have had the shaft break in the exact same spot, but john deere decided they wouldnt make it right for anyone despite it clearly being a defect in the workmanship of the unit. a bush hog with moderate use should last for 10-20 years easily. This one lasted about 6.
