at least he's got relevant experience.

keep in mind the original purpose of the wildlife and fisheries commission which later became LDWF was commercial seafood safety.. mainly oysters.

Good point. Sugar cane was a little too far off. At least a gator farmer is interested in conservation on some level.

That's really interesting. I did not know that.

I've met him on a few occasions. He's a baw, just happens to be a Democrat due to where he's located.

He also just happens to own an Alligator farm who's program is managed by the department of which he just became secretary.

No, he's not some 'blue dog democrat', he's slightly left of Obama. That means he fits in well w/ JBE and his ilk.

I got to know him while he was a representative and know him fairly well. As a conservative republican I think he will do better than his predecessor. Of course that's not saying much. I hope I'm not proven wrong.

He does not like recreational access and is a firm believer of privatization of hunting/trapping/fishing lands. Really bad choice.

When I learned that shining rabbits was not legal, when I was 16. The agent that caught us knew us and was a family friend.. He had a looong talk with all 3 of us. Told me I should have known better especially after my alligator incident(another story). He knew I had a term paper coming up said it had to be on wlf and I had better get an A.

I did.

We were not over that he limit on rabbits..........we may have shot before legal shooting hours....

I'd like to know how you came to that conclusion. As someone who's been part of public access projects for the better part of two decades, I've never heard this guys name in that capacity.

Problem #1- He is a politician
Problem #2- He is a politician
Problem #3- He is a politician

JBE has very little support from the people who actually pay attention to who heads the LDWF, so he doesn't give a S#### who runs LDWF.Expect the worst and hope Jack doesn't mess things up too badly.

The guy is far away from a conservative republican as you can get!

This is payback for being one of the few democrat legislators that would ride in the car with John Bel when he was campaigning. Payback. Nothing more than that.

Didn't imply he was a conservative saying I am a conservative and I like the guy a lot. I think he will do a good job but don't know his background as well as some others. I have just gotten to know him over the last 5-6 years so it's not like we are best buddies or o grew up with him.

Either way he has my respect.
