I finally got everything in place so I could buy my first muzzle suppressor this past Saturday at Michael's Menswear in Homer, LA. I considered ordering one sight unseen from Silencer Shop, but instead decided to go w/ a dealer. It would've been a $30 cheaper to order it off the internet (no sales tax and lower price) than buy from the store, but for my first one I wanted to actually see and handle the suppressors. I wanted to start w/ one for a 22 LR. I'd pretty much narrowed it down to the Sparrow and the Spectre, both from Silencerco. As it turned out, the dealer had both in stock. Both were also rated for other calibers, including the 17 Mach 2 and 17 HMR. The Sparrow's a lot easier to break down, but cost a good bit more. I bought the suppressor using a newly established gun trust. The dealer said their most recent applications have been coming in after a 4 month wait. Now I need to get my Ruger 77/22 barrel threaded. I'll provide a review once I've shot it.

Wait times are down but I don't think they are down to 4 months. Probably closer to 6 months. However, if you buy another can at the 3 month mark, the time will fly by.

Got the Spectre 2 as well

With e filing I got my can in 3 months to the day.

Terrific can for .22's. Just MAKE sure the threading is no longer than .400" on any gun you want to put it on. If so you will need a spacer to keep the screw on part to a depth of less than .400". If not what happens is the suppressor gets screwed on too deep and contacts the first baffle thus pushing it askew and causing baffle strikes and inconsistent shot results. My stock 10/22 for example has .500" length threafing. Caused me many headsches trying to figure out why the gun wouldnt group after I attached the can.

Also endure when you put the baffle segments together that the channel in the baffles are perfectly aligned with each other. If not that will cause loss of accuracy as well.

Many stock rifles and pistols are threaded longer than .400"/ inch so make sure you meadure the threads on any threaded gun before screwing on the Spectre.

Approval times are running 4-5 months right now.

What length and contour barrel does your 77/22 have? I ask because I had a CZ 455 with a 20" barrel and small profile threaded. When I screwed on the suppressor the shots were all over the place. After some testing and trying different things it was determined that the weight of the suppressor affected the harmonics of the 20" barrel. Got a 16" barrel with the same contour and it's a tack driver now.

If your 77/22 has a heavy barrel this won't affect you.

My Form 4 was four and a half months using a trust and filing on paper. My Form 1 filing electronically was just over five weeks for a SBR!

ATF just sent out an update and said that Form 4's should be around six months, but based on the figures they showed, it seems like it should be less than six months. They also said that Form 4's should be able to be e-filed again towards the end of 2015.

Civiltiger I would bet you money ghst the threading on the 20" barrel is longer than the threading on the 16th inch barrel.

Running the Spectre on the 10/22 w/o the spacer I had it dialed in. Took can off to clean, put back on and same gun, same ammo sprayed shots all over.

Measure those threads people and save yourselves some headaches

How much money do you want to bet?

The threads on the factory barrel are longer than the threads on the barrel threaded by the gunsmith. Oh and I don't have a spertre suppressor. AAC Element II

I have the Spectre II. I kinda regret not buying the Sparrow for it's smaller size and cleaner look. Also have a gun trust setup for my guns/suppressors.

I've got one in jail right now for a SBR 300 BLK - hopefully the Form 4 will be approved in only a month or two and I can get it.
