We'll I'm in South La and usually have everything planted by the middle of March. Winter is pretty much over here and I might be planting early this year. I'll be adding fertilizer and compost this weekend to get everything ready.

Yep, I took the day off and I'm picking up a load of compost later this morning.

It's one of my favorite weekends of the spring.

I'm planting tomorrow. Bought 40 tomato plants yesterday, along with a dozen or so peppers, and seeds to plant 100 ft of cucumbers and 100 ft of squash

I've never planted in February. Are you confident there will be no more frost?

and im in south mississippi... if by gardening this weekend you mean disking and prep work i hear ya.. if you mean planting a spring garden im out. Ground is wayyy to cold for anything to grow worth a dam. And there will be a couple more frost, never plant before easter. Unless you are just planting some tomatos and such in pots you can move or cover. Im not sure how big some of you guys gardens are, yall may can cover them. When i plant its about a full acre, and i cant afford to chance a frost killing it.. too much money involved.

That makes no sense because Easter can be March or late April. I've always planted around March 15th and have never had a problem. The poster above is planting this weekend. I've never planted in February.

My garden is ready. I'll be planting around mid March. Maybe even sooner if temps start to stay consistently above 60*F.

no, but I can either cover them with grocery bags or put a sprinkler on them if it looks like a frost coming.

I like having tomatoes before everyone else

I didn't this past fall. Not that I didn't want to. But it gave me a chance to overhaul my dirt and increase my square footage. This year should be a good one, spring and fall.

Got my tomatoes and a few bell pepper seeds in the planters. That's about as far as I got. I may put out some lime and fert this weekend.

I wish I still had room for a big garden like some of you boys are talking about.

I haz the jelly.

Jet stream is supposed to move more artic over the next few weeks. No way in hell I would plant yet. I normally plant on Good Friday, it's worked for the old timers for years and has served me well.

Of course I plant 10 acres of garden I'm not covering it, once it's planted it's on it's own except for water and side dressing.

Moved my garden again. Back to my original spot, this will be the third and last time. Question. I have one of those small tillers, like maybe 3 horsepower or smaller. Didn't use it last year but I ran all the gas out before putting it up. I got it started but when I pressed the gas to operate it dies. Cranks back up and do it again, same thing. Remember reading on here somebody had a similar problem but can't remember what the solution was. Tia if somebody has the answer. And I only use the premix fuel.

I'm in N. Arky, so I won't be planting until April.

But I have a rocking winter garden this year, since I built a cold frame over my raised beds with plastic and PVC pipes.

Still getting lots of chard, kale, beets (and beet greens), and a little celery.

I can't wait to put seeds in the ground.

This warm weather makes me want to take risks, but I'd rather be safe.

You have a 2-stroke tiller?

Regardless, hit it with Seafoam. It fixes everything
