I was planning on bringing the kayaks down to Delacroix in the morning but just caught wind from a guy at work that the river was being drained into Delacroix right now and that it was going to be full of fresh water. Is this true? First I had heard of that...

Google "caernarvon diversion" if you're not familiar. It brings fresh water into the area. I assume this is what he's talking about. I don't know if the flow rates are always the same or of it is even open all the time.

Pretty sure he's talking about Mardi Gras pass. It's a natural diversion so it all depends on wind and how high the river is. The water in Delacroix is actually fairly clean right now. I went out Wednesday and will be going in the morning. There's a buoy by four horse that will text you water conductivity and salinity. It's actually rising over the past few hours. You should be able to catch some fish.

Appreciate the info, I had pretty much made my mind up that I was sticking with my original plan and heading to Delacroix. Good luck tomorrow.

You can be blind and missing an arm and you'll still catch fish out there right now

Actually today was terrible. I only fished from 6-10. The water since last night got real dirty and had no salt. It's kinda been like this the past few months. No telling what will happen ahead of time with the river water coming in. I guess wind direction and river level.
